Shanghai offers a wide range of 5 [and 6] star hotels for your stay - all have their pluses. This new Pudong side Ritz offers many advantages - beginning with the stunning views of the Huangpu river, historic Bund and the Pearl Tower... all from 50+ stories. The hotel is located in the new IFC luxury shopping mall and business center, and a short [<10 min] walk from the Line #2 metro as well as long riverfront boardwalks. The hotel bar at the lobby entrance [on the 52nd floor] provides great indoor views, while Flair on the 58th floor has outdoor seating with breathtaking city views. Recent changes at the Chinese restaurant Jin Xuan have measurably improved the quality of meals, while the wait staff continues to provide outstanding service. Rooms are spacious and comfortable - and the hotel manages to cleverly blend classic Shanghai art deco themes with modern hotel designs. It all works in a very classy Chinese way.

Several folks long for the days when the Puxi [west] side of the river afforded the quaint, tree-lined stay. Things have changed in Shanghai, you are now more inclined to be surrounded by western tourists in Puxi and find yourself sitting with a far greater number of Chinese travelers in Pudong. Pu-Jersey it's not any more. On that note, look for several excellent additional dining opportunities on the 4th and 5th floor of the IFC mall - both western [such as Morton's of Chicago] and Asian [Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai]. In fact Lei Garden may arguably offer the best dim sum in the city.

Lovely hotel, incredible service and a very good gastronomy. The staff and the facilities are superbe. I must say that I appreciated the upgrade room I had. Where you travel abroad, it's a pleasure to find anywhere the ritz-carlton standars. In this hotel you will find that the management of all departments are to the heights of the best hotels in the world. I will come back without any doubt. Thanks for the support of the hotel manager in helping me to find the coolest places in Shangai.

It was like the old days, the right music in our way up to "heaven". Their lobby is located in a 52nd floor, a gentle concierge was responsible to bring to our attention that we were at the Ritz, a very cozy atmosphere, where the ambience embrace us into an experience. I must admit that we were really spoiled about the facilities, Spa with a magnificent double room, for me and my wife, the masseuse just brilliant. Breakfast looks gorgeous in the italian restaurant, and Flair their rooftop bar with unbeatable views. Once in the room, its all about great design, very comfy bed, and their linen is top. I would only suggest to improve the Ipod station (Bose old fashioned model) and Phillips TV definitely not cutting edge. Very cool bathtub and shower though! Last but not least the location is great, despite not being in Puxi area, you have many good connections (metro at nearest luxury shopping mall) or taxi, however to get taxis in Shanghai seems to be impossible mission! We had a great stay and loved this city!

Beautiful hotel, best service, loved room and Flair club and the food. Had surprise Anniversary Party there and food was beyond excellent. The manager there tended to every detail and was very attentive to our needs. She made sure we had a perfect evening.
We found the Italian Restaurant not as attentive and service was a bit slow.
All in all, we can't wait to return someday to this awesome hotel...we rate this a definite a '10.'
