This well positioned large hotel was disapointing for a number of reason, as we just expected better from this famous hotel.
The mean reasons for disappointment was as follows...
Dirty carpet.
Toilet flush didn't work properly for the whole three days we were there.
Rooms just average, nothing like as seen on the internet site, but did have a great view.
Internet in rooms cost US $10 per hour / max charge $15 broken down after first night and after repeated attemps to get it fixed it just never happend.
A 35 second phone call to Australia cost US $8.00

We stayed 2 nights as part of a package tour. The views over the river were spectacular and the location was very convenient. Walking distance to Nanjing St shopping and the Bund. The streets in immediate vicinity were not very exciting though. There were chinese as well as english breakfast items and i especially loved the pickled root vegetable that looked like a brown grub. Crunchy and salty - goes well with the rice congee.

we are staying here for the second time and it is just as good. The location is great, a quick stroll to the nanjing mall and the BUND. I just wandered there this morning and saw the tai chi groups and the kite flyers. The hotel is clean. Bathrooms nice with lots of hot water and large fluffy towels. We found the staff friendly and helpful and the wintertime rate very reasonaBle, it's a gem!

just back from the hop on and off bus. staying at this hotel because i was on a gate1 t. our.
the hotel is wierd. the carpet in the room that i am in really needs to be cleaned.the breakfast
was ok. I had to say it but I saw a roach on the table that the omlettes were being cooked. a knife on the table that was suppose to be cleaned was dirty. I didn't mention it I just said I am in china. and not staying at the Marriott that i canelled last evening. o well. I am in Shanghai..
if I ever return I will not stay here. by the way the beds are the hardest. I have ever slept in.
