I stayed at the hotel for a conference and really enjoyed the stay. The hotel is situated on the river, with views (if you've got a room on that side of the hotel), over the river towards the Bund (waterfront). The hotel collected me, at additional cost, from the Hongqiao airport. Roughly 20-25 minutes later I was at the hotel. Check in was efficient and friendly.
The room was spotless, spacious and quiet. I was particularly impressed with the clearly labelled lighting. There is a wide choice of restaurants, with both western and chinese cuisine. Breakfast is served at the ground floor River Cafe, which had a fantastic buffet. I also ate at the Italian restaurant which I though to be excellent. The view from the 30th floor Red Passion bar is spectacular, especially at night.
The concierge was very helpful in tracking down with the airline my missing luggage as well as organising a tour of the city. I was a little surprised when told that the tour company only accepted payment in cash, so plan accordingly. There is an ATM in the hotel lobby area where you can draw local currency.
As far as location is concerned, Shanghai strikes me as such a sprawling city that wherever you stay that you're never in the centre of anything, so I was happy with the location. There is quite a nice shopping mall within easy walking distance.
When I return to Shanghai I will stay here again.
