“Many great points, but a couple too many weak ones”

Uprising is a long way from Nadi, and despite being closer to Suva, there isn't much that benefits from being close to Suva, I'm sorry to say!
The dorm is stunning to look at, but pretty unbearable when full - Ask for Bure 12, which is apparently also a Dorm, but which they don't really sell, for some unfathomable reason. It's great, comfy, smart, clean and well supplied with fridge, fans & coffee facilities. But, yeah, the dorm is a bit painful.
Food is good, but kitchen somehow manage to send every table out in dribs & drabs - Not once, but on 3 separate occasions. However, front of house service from both JoJo and Kesa was always above and beyond the call - Kesa in particular managed to exceed expectations time & again, although JoJo's flamboyance was always welcome!
Beach mediocre, pool mediocre, but massage best on the South of the Island - Fifty bucks for an hour, often with 2 masseuses - Utterly fine!!
(And towers of Vonu during not 1, but 2 Happy Hours! Tip Top idea)

Room Tip: Bure 12 or a Beach Villa if you really need to splash the cash, or are with a Lurrrved one!

“Realistic Fiji”

We had 10 nights here in a Beach Front Bure in Jan 2012 and had the best time. We are not into "Big" resorts with kids clubs and all the hype, but don't do cheap either. We loved every minute at The Uprising, it is on a lovely beach, has a great pool and landscaped gardens, the staff were amazing-friendly and helpful. There are only about 20 individual units, beach front and garden view and a small upmarket dorm, so you always felt like you were on your own holiday and not sharing it with 100's of others. We travelled with our 8yr old daughter and she loved it here too, but we are the kind of family who does everything together anyway. If you want a great holiday without needing a shop or a hairdresser in the complex, stay at the Uprising.!!!

Room Tip: Beachfront is definitely the way to go

“Loved It!!”

Stayed here in October 2011 for business and absolutely loved it!! It is a hidden gem!! Must admit i didn't have high expectations but was very very pleasantly surprised! We stayed in one of the brand new garden Villas and it was more of a 5 star standard with lots of little luxuries!! It's such a great blend of people and accommodations!! Staff and service was brilliant!! Would have no hesitation in recommending this to all types of travellers - and will definately be staying here again.

Room Tip: Go for one of the new Villas

“Friendly atmosphere, owner helps the local community”

Just stayed there mid-December 2011. A rugby event was going on, with big names showing up. During the event, loved to learn from workers that the resort owner helps a lot the local community without publicizing it much. The resort tries hard to be as much "sustainable" as possible, which is a good thing. Uprising may not be the number 1 resort in Viti Levu (had minor problems with a shower in our bure), but definitely worth trying if you want your bucks to be spent on good causes and not only deep pockets.

“Our stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We stayed at Uprising for 3 nights in december and the villa we stayed in was lovely. The beach was nice. The bar by the beach was our favourite spot watching the local ladies fishing at the end and enjoying a bottle of vonu. (I even got a fishing line from the fishing shop at the arts village the next day in the hope to catch something). The atmosphere in the hotel was good. The staff were nice but there were few occassions where some of the female staff were rude. It was like the whole thing was about them and not the customer. The pregnant lady who was the waitress there at the time was awesome though. Maybe the other female staff can get some tips off her on how its suppose to be done. Overall we enjoyed the stay at this pleasant resort and we plan to return to Uprising next time.
