“A Day Trip”

A mate and I popped over for lunch and a quick catch up with some friends staying on Treasure. Weather was terrible but company and Fijian hospitality fantastic. Cold Fiji Bitter and great company overcame the rain.

It had been over 7 years since I was last on Treasure, great to see that they are doing up some of the Villas and that in spite of the weather the island was well kept.

Next visit to Fiji we'll give Treasure a go for a couple of nights for sure.

Room Tip: Sorry, just visited for the day

Bula,

Yes the weather was not the best for the last week or so. Great to say that the weather now is just beautiful. We are now back to normal Fiji weather, hot and sunny with just the chance of an afternoon shower.

We certainly always try to keep all our beverages cold and an icy cold Fiji Bitter is just great on a hot day.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Treasure on your next visit.

“Paradise Found”

Sadly I only had two days during a transit on the island,Even though there were storms and high winds over Fiji, the staff at Treasure were on the ball in keeping the Island clear of debris. I searched my beachfront unit for bedbugs but found none. I saw staff totally fumigate a unit so they are onto it. The food was well presented and plenty of it. Loved the staff floor show, great way for the guests to get involved.

Sure the resort is 30 years old but that has given them 30 years to get it right!! Will be back for a longer stay as soon as we can. Hmmm can just imagine sunsets in the pool with a cold beer.

Room Tip: unit 10 is wounderful

Bula,

it seems that at present storms are everywhere in the region with floods in Australia and high winds and rain over the Fiji group for the past week or so. Staff have been working hard under trying conditions to keep areas as clear as possible.

Thankfully the forecast is for the weather to gradually clear over the next couple of days so we should soon be back to clear skies and as always warm weather. The guests will be able to enjoy that cold beer watching the sunset over the pool as you have only been able to imagine.

We look forward to welcoming you back home to Treasure Island on your next visit and I am sure that you too will be able to enjoy that sunset vista and cold beer.

“Memories to Treasure.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have just spent 4 nights at Treasure Island with my partner and I really can't imagine where some of these people are coming from who have criticized the place. We came away with nothing but good memories and will go back there again.

The rooms were spotless and beautifully appointed. The rooms were peaceful and close to the beach. No bed-bugs. Nice fresh bedlinen and towels.

The staff at the resort were wonderful and so friendly. My partner had never been to Fiji before and he came away saying the Fijians are the friendliest people he has ever come across. Tui in the bar remembered me from more than 6 years ago when I stayed at Beachcomber Island!

We arrived the day after a storm so the water was murky for a day or two but then cleared to utterly clear. A fair bit of seaweed had been washed up on the beach but the staff were working to clear that away. I couldn't believe how much garbage had been washed ashore! There are some ignorant pigs out there who clearly don't give a damn.

We ordered the meal plan and although Don had no problems with the meals I found it was just too much for me to eat. I am not a big eater normally (166cm and 57kg) and I really struggled, finding myself still full at lunch from my breakfast, and still full at dinner from my lunch. Next time I would just get breakfast and dinner. We had been fairly active as well, kayaking to Beachcomber Island twice and swimming or snorkelling 3 or 4 times each day.

I would recommend the helicopter transfers. I booked this as there had been severe flooding in Nadi until the day before and the roads in and out of the airport were flooded. The helicopter cost a bit more but the transfer to the island was quick and effortless. Plus a great scenic flight with a knowledgable pilot.

We met some nice people there and came away utterly relaxed and refreshed. And wanting to go back asap.

Room Tip: Room 39 is great, on the sunset side and at the farthest point of the island.

Bula,

What a great way to arrive or depart by taking a helicopter transfer. Not only is it fast you also get the most amazing views of the waters and the reefs on your way to or from the Island.
The staff are just amazing at remembering names and as you pointed out you were remembered from six years ago, what a memory. I will make special note of this with Tui.

As you pointed out the meal plans are very flexible and allow our guests to tailor one to suit their requirements.

The floods on the mainland certainly do make a lot of extra work for the islands as we have to collect all the rubbish that they have allowed to flow into the ocean.

Should you return soon I am sure all the staff will remember you.

“Very Good Again !!”

It was our second trip with our granddaughter. It is a good location for families, except when we were there a very extended family arrived, taking over the dining room and pool area. We felt sorry for the staff as they had to work extra hard to accomodate this large noisy group. We noticed 2 cots on the balcony next door to us and asked if babies were checking in and were told 4 mth old twins would be there. I went to reception and asked if they could move them and they did, so we had peaceful nights. Thank God ! Other gusts were going to the bar dripping wet from pool creating and making it unsafe for staff and other guests. It would be nice if people would be respectfull and dress while in dining room. Bikini's and Budgies not a good look!!! Apart from that hotel was great. Food pretty good and great staff. Will be back again.

Room Tip: We have stayed in 27 and 35. Both nice rooms.

Bula,

we appreciate your comments and were glad that we could accommodate all your requests. Treasure Island really is a great place for families and the staff who run the kids club do a great job of entertaining and even giving a little bit of Fijian history and culture. We have noted your comments about guests coming into the bar and dining area dripping wet as this can be a problem on tile floors.

Looking forward to welcoming you back for the third time.

“Great snorkeling but ....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Have stayed 5 nights and where is the friendly and genuine Fijian service? Not here.
Someone in our party asked for coconut water, the guest relations told him to hold the straw as he was going to bring one but he sat with other guests and never returned. When mentioned upon our departure 2 days later that we were still waiting was told by same guy that would be easier to wait until next time. The guy was the 'guest relations manager'. Restaurant staff lack enthusiasm or service skills, apart from one lovely lady. The daily activities listed on the board never happened as described eg. went every day at 3:30 for turtle feeding but never saw any staff around.
Room were old but Ok although another guest requested to go to another island due to bed bugs. When inspected the beds in our rooms, the mattress was very old, even with holes. Agree with other reviews that male staff were better than women. 2 x Cleaning staff friendly.
Food was very inconsistent in all aspects presentation, quality, portion size. Salads were not fresh and restricted fruit offering. when asked for banana or apple for a sick child was told not available- don't recommend fullmeal plan! Lunch or all day menu doesn't change.
Very nice to have medical center and service there was very good and genuine!
They have no environmental initiatives!!!
Snorkeling is fantastic but not at all promoted by staff. The diving school was a joke, too lazy to be bothered with diving, were more interested in dealing with kayAk hiring and motor sports. We made such an effort to dive but were not able to and the person in charge was pretty rude, leaving you talking to yourself in the shop. Same mentioned by other guests who were trying to dive too.
Very nice beach, nice pool, great snorkeling but would not go back.Mana island resort on the other hand exceeded my expectations. Sofitel in Denarau was fantastic! Wishing all Fijian people the best after the floods!

I thank you for your list of problems that you encountered with our staff and we will work very hard to correct those areas that you have identified as weakness with our team.

I am concerned to learn that turtle feeding did not take place as it is very important for the health of the turtles that this does occur on a regular basis.

Having a nurse available on the island 24/7 is certainly very beneficial for both the guests and our staff.

Again thank you for identifying our weakness and be assured we will work very hard to improve in those areas, as well as all others.

We hope that if you return to Treasure Island we can show you a whole new attitude by our staff.
