Arrived to be snubbed in favour of frequent visitors. The manager was all over us until he realised we werent the regular visitors!!! He even took my lei back and gave it to the other lady !!! The accommodation was dirty, linen was thin and old, you could see thru the tiny, grey and stained bath towels. The bedside lamp was actually taped up with red electrical tape. The pillows and mattress didnt have protectors on them and were spotted with mould. The bathroom mirror was filthy as was the hand basin. Lucky us, there was even a used bar of soap sitting on the window sill in the shower!! The cutlery drawer had a spoon, a fork and a teaspoon, nothing else. We got three sachets of coffee and four t bags that were actually mouldy!!! When we asked for more coffree we were told, after a 45 minute wait , that there wasnt any. We were given a coffee perculator that just happened to be completely split around the bottom of the water resevoir so needless to say, the thing didnt work and we couldnt make coffee.Oh yeah, Epee was going to charge us for the coffee that was meant to be used in perculator!!! Breakfast was a joke. The first three days there wasnt any toast at all and for the rest of our stay we had to constantly ask for it, then there would be no butter!!! Try the desserts while you are there. There is a nightly choice of dry tart or dry tart. Knock yourself out!! Whatever you do, go on the excursion to the island where the English first settled. Our group was forgotten, after calling Epee we were eventually picked up just before dark and had to travel back in the near dark amongst huge waves. Not a good experience for anyone let alone the two 80 year olds who were with us. If you are a diver i can imagine you would enjoy the dives and the snorkelling was good even tho you had to go around to the other side of the island. The people who live in the village were helpful, friendly and fantastic fun. Niagani needs a good shake up in the managerial side and the accommodation needs revamping. I have photos of the disrepair and dirtiness of the accommodation so I never forget not to book a holiday there again. Its a real pity because the island is really beautiful and the locals need tourists coming back to allow them to stay on the island and for jobs to keep the young islanders employed, which helps keep the Fijian tradition and culture alive.
