We just spent 3 wonderful days at Dive Kadavu. Anne, the new manager, was incredibly warm and welcoming when she and Sam, the boat driver, met us at the airport. Since there were 4 of us (my husband, 2 kids, and myself), we stayed in Bure #3 which is one of their 2-bedroom bures right next to the village. It was very open and spacious, with comfortable beds, a living room area, an ensuite with an electric hot water heater, and an outdoor sitting area.
Every single one of the staff was friendly and hospitable. They all took the time to get to know us and talk with us, learning about us as people and finding out our personal tastes as well. The food was delicious. Several of the guests were amazed and commented on how inventive the kitchen staff was with their limited resources. They offered multiple choices at each meal, vegetarian choices were always available, and they made some of the best bread I have tasted.
My husband went on a 2-tank dive on Saturday, and thoroughly enjoyed himself. There are over 40 dive sites to choose from, and Sireli the dive master was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent equipment was used as well. the entire family went snorkeling a few times to the coral heads right off the beach. Great marine life could be viewed at all times.
Some nights were quiet with some gentle music provided at dinner by a local group of musicians, and other nights were a little more rockin' with a different set of village boys, and of course, the requisite kava. A great way to get a taste of Fijian life.
The EXTENSIVE library is hard to pass up on. I dare say anyone can find at least one book to their liking from that selection!
I agree with some of the other reviewers who said that the property needs some sprucing up. Some of the bures and furniture could use some updating, but it was all very comfortable.
Go to Dive Kadavu for great diving, a relaxing and laid back atmosphere, and some traditional Fijian hospitality.
