This was by far the worst hotel experience I've had in my life. I strongly advise thespian troupes to NEVER book rooms here for the annual Georgia Thespian Conference.
Our troupe of 53 students and chaperones was in attendance for a statewide theater convention in Columbus. Being a public school, they were supposed to accept our tax discount as we've been able to use it across the country in the past. However, days before the convention when it was too late to move hotels, they claimed that they didn't have to honor it as we were out of state and as a result would charge the school an additional $700 in taxes for absolutely no reason.
To make matters worse, the stay itself was horrendous.
Upon returning Friday night at 11:30 at night, every guest in the ENTIRE HOTEL was locked out of their room as their keys ceased to function. This led to the headache of them having to manually reprogram each individual keycard at the desk before anyone could get back in. My key personally had to be replaced two times in the same night. The manager then made the ridiculous that you couldn't have a cellphone or credit card with you otherwise the card would be replaced, but I have not once encountered this problem.
Each morning, the breakfast there was entirely undercooked or stale and was not safe for consumption. The eggs, sausage, cinnamon roles, you name it. Several of my fellow students had upset stomachs the entire weekend.
The staff and administration of the hotel were clueless with handing students and did not catch students from the other school roaming the halls yelling and throwing ice at peoples doors, nor did they find students from that same school swimming after curfew. We had to personally call desk and ask them to inform their chaperones and to send a security guard up to the floor and complain that students were pouring ice in front of our door and on the elevator floor so that people would step on it since many were walking around barefoot before going to bed.
They refused to apologize for any incidents that had occurred with the taxes, room keys, or unruly students and acted as if they weren't responsible.
