“NEVER AGAIN”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This was by far the worst hotel experience I've had in my life. I strongly advise thespian troupes to NEVER book rooms here for the annual Georgia Thespian Conference.

Our troupe of 53 students and chaperones was in attendance for a statewide theater convention in Columbus. Being a public school, they were supposed to accept our tax discount as we've been able to use it across the country in the past. However, days before the convention when it was too late to move hotels, they claimed that they didn't have to honor it as we were out of state and as a result would charge the school an additional $700 in taxes for absolutely no reason.

To make matters worse, the stay itself was horrendous.

Upon returning Friday night at 11:30 at night, every guest in the ENTIRE HOTEL was locked out of their room as their keys ceased to function. This led to the headache of them having to manually reprogram each individual keycard at the desk before anyone could get back in. My key personally had to be replaced two times in the same night. The manager then made the ridiculous that you couldn't have a cellphone or credit card with you otherwise the card would be replaced, but I have not once encountered this problem.

Each morning, the breakfast there was entirely undercooked or stale and was not safe for consumption. The eggs, sausage, cinnamon roles, you name it. Several of my fellow students had upset stomachs the entire weekend.

The staff and administration of the hotel were clueless with handing students and did not catch students from the other school roaming the halls yelling and throwing ice at peoples doors, nor did they find students from that same school swimming after curfew. We had to personally call desk and ask them to inform their chaperones and to send a security guard up to the floor and complain that students were pouring ice in front of our door and on the elevator floor so that people would step on it since many were walking around barefoot before going to bed.

They refused to apologize for any incidents that had occurred with the taxes, room keys, or unruly students and acted as if they weren't responsible.

Room Tip: Do not travel here with students or in a large group.

Our hotel enjoyed the company of several schools that weekend. All of whom attended the Georgia Thespian Conference. Your review comes as a surprise because, I spoke with the administration of the schools and they spoke very highly of their experience that weekend. I understand that you are a student with the group and may be misled about our tax laws. Your school is exempt from sales tax. We charge lodging tax and they are indeed different. We did talk with your schools administration prior to their visit and they did understand and agree to pay the lodging taxes. Also, your group passed through a metal detector at the event that you attended and this is what deactivated your keys. I hope that you will address these concerns with your school's administration to gain more clarity. We do look forward to your group's visit again next year.

“"OUTSTANDING Staff & accommodations"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Our son graduated from Ft. Benning Infantry training and we needed accommodations within proximity to the base. I selected this hotel based on customer evaluations from two websites. We were not disappointed. The entire staff treated us with impecable service. I have stayed at five star hotels and not received the type of outstanding service we experienced here. This hotel is by far the best value in the area.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the rear due to the road noise in the front. This was the only negative aspect...

“Outstanding Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Everyone at this hotel went above and beyond to make sure my stay in the area went exceptionally well while I was attending my son's boot camp graduation at Fort Benning, Georgia. I want to say a special "thank you" to Yvonne at the front desk for taking care of me and my family on a consistent basis. This young lady gave us outstanding customer service and I would like to thank her for making us feel special while we were in the area. I would definetely come back to this hotel again if given the chance!

“NOISE”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The highway is close so there is always truck noise. But when six to eight people crown into the room next door at 11:30 PM and are extremely load, slam doors and bump the walls, it's hard to sleep. This continued until 3:00AM. I called the dest at Midnight and the dest clerk "Andrew" sais he would take care of it. To no avail, it got worse. I will not stay at this hotel again if at all possible. My work requires me to travel and I average staying in at least 5 to six hotels each month.

Room Tip: Get rooms on the opposite side from the highway.

I am sorry that you were disturbed by other guest. I do remember hearing about the team that arrived shortly after 11:00pm and it took them a little while to get settled. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we can improve to meet and exceed the needs of our guest. We do hope that you will give us a second chance and stay with us again if you are ever in the area.

In town with family and needed a spot because we had more family than house. Remembered this property from a previous visit and they did not disappoint. The staff is what is memorable about this property. Excellent location if you need to run over to GA.

Room Tip: End of the hall - close to your car for unpacking and packing up.
