“Stay somewhere else if you can”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

Chose this hotel because it was very close to Gunter. Room was huge, but furniture was out-dated and looked like stuff you'd buy at a yard sale. The bed was comfortable, but there was a quarter-sized cigarette burn hole in it (though it was a non-smoking room). Breakfast was standard, wireless service was good. It was clear the bathroom had not been cleaned, as I found quite a few hairs in both the tub and sink. If I had paid $40 for the night, okay, expected - but it was $85. Too much for what they provide.

There is a Sandal Wood hotel right next to this one...I would try that place before coming back here.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

This motel is close to the Gunters Annex and a bunch of AL State office buildings on Coliseum Blvd. It seems like a no frills place, on the fringe of Montgomery. While I was there, the motel was really clean, had old 1990s style furniture in the rooms, but the bedding seemed to be updated. There is free wifi in the room. There is a computer in the lobby. The bathroom seemed to have plenty of hot water on demand. There was an inroom coffee maker with coffee and tea available. For breakfast, I thought it was pretty good for a no frills motel, there were cereals, breads, milk, juice, apples, bananas, waffles, and a hot entree. When I was there, the hot entree was a pre-fab cheese omelet and hash browns with toast and grape jelly available. There were USA Today newpapers available everyday. There were not very many people in staying in the motel when I was there, so it was very quite. I did hear a semi-truck idling outside of my window one night, but I bring ear plugs. The door to my room was fairly ill-fitted, so there was a little hallway noise. Outside of the building is a McDonalds and a gas station with a convenience store. The front desk staff were professional. I did walk down the driveway after dark, but early evening to to the gas station convenience store for a snack, and I did not feel 100% safe doing that. But, once I returned to the inside of the motel, I felt safe.

“Very Accommodating!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2010

I needed to see friends and business associates in Montgomery and also Prattville, Millbrook and Wetumpka. This hotel was a perfect location for it. It seemed to have been updated since we'd visited 4-5 years before. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Since I was going to be having several people come and go, they put in a quiet place where we could laugh and not disturb anybody.

The breakfast was great with many options and the room was very nice and comfortable with a microwave and refrigerator. I had a King bed and the room had a table and chairs besides a desk for my computer. WOW! The rates were very reasonable since I booked in advance with AARP rate.

“Smoky Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2008

Stayed at the Comfort inn Northchase for 1 night in January 2008.
There are some good and some bad points. The good--the women working in the morning were very friendly and helpful. I was given a room on the main floor (my preference) and my room was large and clean, as was
the bathroom. The beds were comfortable, and everything in the room worked well. In the morning, breakfast was served in a large room that
could accommodate many guests, and there were plenty of good choices (eggs, make your own waffles, danishes, bagels, toast, cereal).

There's plenty of parking and the area is safe. The bad--the man at check in was not too friendly. There is no business center so you can't check email or print anything you need. The hotel is very difficult to get to from the freeway, and I passed it almost every time I tried to get there. There's nothing around the hotel except a gas station, Waffle House, McDonalds, and Wendy's. The WORST part was that at night, the hallway totally smelled like smoke, and the smoke drifted into my room. I am allergic and sensitive to smoke and shouldn't have to inhale other people's cigarette smoke. I don't know where the smokers were, but it seemed like they were everywhere. My second night in town I switched to another hotel about 5 miles up the road which is NOT smoky and has a million more shops and restaurants around. So there are good points about this hotel but the smoke coming
in my room led me to a poor recommendation. Please let me know if you have any questions!!

  • Liked — Clean, large room and good breakfast.
  • Disliked — Smoky hallways are nasty for non-smokers.

Nice place. Check in was quick and efficient. Room was very spacious and clean. The place looks very new. This location is close to Gunter, so if you have business there, than this is a great location. Breakfast was good and every staff member I encountered was very nice.
