“Over $1,000 worth of fraudulent charges later, Clarion NOT worth it.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

My husband stayed here for one night on business back in December. The hotel was to his liking and the price was right. The problem is, we started seeing charges for $320.96 show up on our credit card statement more than a month after his stay and I assure you he wouldn't have paid that rate for this hotel. When I contacted Clarion about this, the manager was ALWAYS unavailable and NEVER returned calls to me. The desk employee assured me that he could not see my record in his computer and that I would have to talk to the manager because her computer could "see" more than his. I endured this for a time and no more charges appeared. I called their 1-800 number and was assured that the charges
would be investigated and then they would call back. They NEVER called back either! Another month later, TWO more charges for $320.96 appeared. I promptly called Clarion again. I got a lady on the desk who was very nice. She was sympathetic to my plight and assured me they had a new manager but still wouldn't let me talk to him. Instead she wanted me to call a regional employee (guess what? No return call!) and then email my credit card statement to her personal email addess. What a joke! I had to call my credit card company and file fraud charges against Clarion. I also had to change my credit card number and get new cards issued. They have either had their system hacked or they have an employee helping himself/herself to a nice bonus every month. Either way, they have made no attempt to contact their customers and they don't seem to care. If you are a fan of identity theft, the Calrion is for you. If not, there are plenty of other places in Montgomery to stay that are of great value, minus the fraud.

“If you want to be double charged and never refunded then stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2011

I stayed at this hotel in April for 2 nights and whilst the room was clean the rest of the hotel was not. It seemed deserted. Breakfast was one of the weirder experiences I have ever had. They had no butter/margraine for the toast. When I enquired, I was told they had run out. The next day - the same scenario. My favourite part about the whole stay is whern I returned home to find I have been charged double for my stay. After numerous emails and phone calls with pathetic excuses or simply no reply, I have now contacted my credit card company to stop the payments and investigate for fraud. Trust me don't stay here, it would have been cheaper for me to stay at a 5 star hotel at this rate.

“Do not stay here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2011

The worst lodging experience that I have had in years; fortunately I was there for only one night. Room was unkempt with torn carpeting that appeared to have cigarette burns; the window shears had holes and the bathroom floor felt sticky. Bed linens appeared to be clean. TV and internet services were not working. Hotel stall were friendly but but the entire experience was dodgy at best.

“Great For The Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2011

This is no longer called the Madison Hotel. It's the Clarion. I was in town for a weekend event downtown, and this was the perfect location, right in the center of the downtown area, and a comfortable walking distance to many museums and points of interest. The price was reasonable, and the staff was VERY nice and accommodating. The room and bathroom were clean and fairly updated in decor, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, the shower head was great, and the towels were just right (not too small and thin). Things that also mattered to me....the room came with a hairdryer (worked fine), an alarm clock, a coffee maker, and a good TV. I called the front desk a couple of times, and they answered right away. My friend and I felt very comfortable and safe staying there, and it was a great deal for the location. We'd definitely stay there again.

“Nightmare-DId not stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

Don't stay here!!! This is a horrible hotel. Rat bait in the breakfast area the night before breakfast was going to be served. I took pictures. Bathtub gross. Lock on door broken. Pool was without water and falling apart. Carpet was nasty. Room smelled. Know one was staying there. Got it off of Hotwire. Did not stay due to it being gross. Hotwire should take this hotel off their list.
