Three of us traveled to Alabama on business at the Air Force Base. We easily found the hotel which looked great in the picture. I checked us in which was difficult as the room clerk was both bored and uninterested in getting us settled. The lobby was clean and nicely decorated. She (finally) gave us our room cards and told us our rooms were on the 3rd floor which was a surprise as I had asked at time of booking for a ground floor as one of the persons traveling was expecting knee replacement surgery. We found the rooms but the keys would not open them. After investigation, I noticed that the cards were all marked 103, not 301, therefore on the ground floor. We wearily climbed back down the stairs and walked through the bottom hall which was filthy!!! The wall paper was dingy and stained and the carpet was horrible. It was supposed to be plush, but looked more like dirty felt. When we got into the rooms, the beds were not made (bare mattress) and the trash had never been dumped and there were never any clean towels or washcloths. There was a carton of sour milk in the refrigerator, and a dry, curled-up piece of cheese. The floor was so dirty that we wore houseshoes at all times. After leaving, I threw mine in a nearby trash can and so did another coworker. The Queen size pull-out was not a queen size and the mattress was about an inch thick, smelly and stained, lumpy and uncomfortable. No bedding or pillows for it, anywhere. I called the desk and got no answer. Kept calling every few minutes, but never an answer. I finally walked back up there (It is on the second floor) and found the clerk who was talking to her boyfriend and a female with a horrible little boy who hit me in the leg with a stick. The staff was all black and I'm white, so I just endured it. The clerk had no interest in seeing that we ever got sheets, but finally unwedged her large self and got some bedding, although not enough. I asked for washcloths and towels and she sighed and told me to check with laundry, although she didn't say how to get there. The boyfriend glared at me and the little boy hit me with his stick again, and the clerk stared at me with dead eyes. I found my way back to our room but was frightened. We were there for three days because we couldn't get a refund. Each morning, I called or visited the office to request housekeeping and each evening we returned to the same wadded up bed clothing and full trashcans. The clkerk almost never answered her phone and was in another part of the building or had gone shopping or something. The staff was mostly non-existent. We paid $96 per night, plus the 12% tax, but our company will never again send anyone there. We took pictures. I also contacted their home office and told them about the dreadful service. They never apologized, just offered me their newsletter and 10% off my next stay which will never happen. We finally decided this has been converted to a welfare hotel. There were many women with unruly children, almost no men and the ones who were there were surly and rude. The staff is totally unresponsive and the place is disgusting. Many of the beds have stained, dried urine spots, which usually indicate children not yet toliet trained. The bathrooms are horrible. The clerk must live on the property as she vanishes into an upstairs room at all hours and will NOT answer the phone. I found the laundry on my own and stopped by each evening to get a supply. The laundry person obviously expected a tip, but I didn't offer one as we rather do expect the amenities. There was one bar of soap (tiny) on the sink for the three of us, so it's a good thing we all travel with personal tolietries. Dreadful, Dreadful Experience.
