I had some reward points to spend, but only a few so I went with the only option in my point range. BIG MISTAKE. The place looks decent from the outside, and I understand that this is mostly for people staying long term while working in town. Unfortunately, the service, the room, and the overall "hotel" was horrible. It started with the room. The carpet is run down, the beds suck, and the kitchen is about 2 decades past dated. That, we could deal with considering the room was on points. As the evening progressed, it got worse. When I was already wet in the shower, I realized I had two conditioners and not any shampoo in the shower. I called downstairs and had to wait on them to rummage around to find if they had any shampoo, and then had to traipse downstairs wet to get it myself. When I got downstairs, the key card lock on the lobby door didn't work so I had to bang on the door and wait for the "associate" to mosey over. I could get over these two things. What I could not get over was the next problem. After my shower, I had to kill a cockroach on the wall. When I called the front desk, they promised to take a note of it and then asked what size it was. I don't care what size the roach is, it was in my room on third floor and that is NOT the right response.
I have gotten my points back plus a little extra, so that is good management after the fact, but unless you absolutely have to stay here, do yourself a favor and go some place with less roaches.

Thank you again for choosing our TownePlace Suites – Montgomery, AL for your lodging needs in November 2011. As stated in our email communication, I am deeply saddened to learn that your recent visit with us was less than satisfactory. I was also extremely disappointed to learn that our responses to all of your concerns were inadequate. Though it is rare for our property, when insects are discovered in our guest suites, regardless of size, it is a big deal and we take such incidents very seriously. The comfort and satisfaction of all of our guests is incredibly important to us. Again, we have spoken with the associate, as well as all of our team members, concerning this matter and we will continue to diligently improve our inspection and detection efforts to prevent a repeat of this unfortunate incident.
I am happy that you did receive the Marriott Rewards points as requested and I hope that you will not lose faith in our TPS Brand. We sincerely appreciate your invaluable feedback as we continue to strive to provide a quality and consistent experience all of our guests expect when choosing to lodge with us.
I hope that you will have a wonderful Holiday Season and that you will one day give us a chance to serve you again whenever you return to the Montgomery area.
Warmest Regards,
Jessica McDowell
