“Ok motel if you need the lowest price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2008

The best things about Days Inn Midtown Montgomery are the low price and convenient location. It's an ok motel for the low price. I stayed here for 2 nights in the fall. It is an older motel that's been refurbished. It has exterior entrances. The room was clean enough, the mattress was bulging out a bit at the sides but comfortable enough. The bathroom shower was in good shape, with solid marble-like walls. There was plenty of warm water but I think the shower had something to keep the water from getting real hot, because it wasn't ever burning hot like the sink faucet got. I paid $44 a night plus $6 tax.

The maid didn't resupply the shampoo and soap one day, but I got more at the front desk. The free breakfast was fairly typical of other Days Inns, with 3 types of cereal, packages of oatmeal, apples, orange and apple juice, toast, donuts, bagels, and waffles you could pop in the toaster. The breakfast room was large enough. Front desk staff was friendly. Wireless internet access was trouble free and fast; I had no connection problems. Stayed in November so didn't have to try the AC. The window doesn't open. The motel is conveniently located within a mile of several fast food and other restaurants. There's also a Walmart superstore within a mile and the motel is a short drive from Gunter Annex of Maxwell Air Force Base. The Walmart is in the "Midtown Mall" which also includes a Chik-A-Fil fastfood restaurant specializing in chicken sandwiches. The Chik-A-Fil was usually mobbed - so many cars backed up that they interfered with traffic in the mall parking lot.

“Fine enough for a place to sleep”

We stayed at this Days Inn because we got great internet rates and it is really close to the freeway. We had to travel back and forth to Tuskegee, and it was cheaper to stay here than to stay in Tuskegee (even factoring in the cost of gas). There was a microwave and fridge in the room (although we had to get the microwave replaced because the first one didn't work). The bathroom in our room was nice, and the bed was comfortable. Our main complaint was that even though it is a non-smoking room, the room reeked of smoke, so much that when we left, all of our clothes smelled like smoke for several days. Otherwise, the staff members were friendly and there were many choices of places to eat nearby.

  • Liked — Close to the freeway, food options, fridge, microwave, breakfast
  • Disliked — Smoke smell

“Needs some work”

The staff at this hotel was friendly and helpful, but the property itself is very run down. Seems they've done some work recently to replace the showers, but the rest of the room was pretty bad. The counter top in the bathroom was pulling/falling away from the wall, and the room had an unpleasant odor. Half of the lights in the room also weren't functioning.

While we didn't have any security issues, it seems this location is not in the best part of Montgomery. The property has security camera's covering most of the property which is probably for a good reason.

I probably wouldn't stay here again unless everything else in Montgomery was sold out. You can find a nicer room elsewhere in town for the same price.

“Noisy, dirty, dump”

This hotel was selected because it was closest to where I needed to be and I knew nothing about the area. It is of typical OLDER Days Inn design, two story with EXTERNAL doors. The "non-smoking" room had been smoked in A LOT and obviously NOT just by tobacco users. Lots of cigarette burns on carpets, bedspread, chairs and nightstand. Half inch ring of mold and mildew circled the windows ( where the edge of the cleaning rag/tool bumped up against the side)
Sign of a quick and spotty corporate cleaning mentality. The vent in the bathroom, rather than exhausting air, was blowing stale, musty air INTO the room. Cable TV reception was poor with interference on many channels. Not sure if there was a special event of some kind or if it is typical of the property but the night I stayed there, there was a constant parade of cars coming and going until about 3am, most of them blaring loud music. Lots of doors slamming, lots of children running about.

Stayed February 2006

“not what it should be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2003

I booked my reservations online, first of all I noticed that this is a hotel that has descriptions as being close to Disney World ...hello this is not Florida. I got a special rate thru the internet...should have known better My first room was not the pretty room it showed. The wall paper in the pictures...there was none just dirt and footprints on wall...we turned the beds back to find dirt and grass in the beds and a black substance on the blanket that appeared to be feces also on the wall in one spot. The phone did not work....in which a maintance man tried to fix six times it still never worked. The coffee maker that was advertised being in the room was there with nasty stuff all over the filter container but NO coffee pot...was told they did not carry coffee pots anymore...but I paid extra for these admentities....I did get changed to another room after complaining but at 10:30 the 2nd night myself and my 14 year old daughter and her friend that was traveling with me was all awakened to the noise coming from the room next to us...we called the front desk to find out that the room beside us was occupied by a man that was a contractor staying there and he wouldn't be in till late.....they would have to go to his room and shut the loud television off if he was not in there ....which never happened ......he did shut it down about 1:00 A.M. when he returned, the hotel did not! I was furious this was a business trip for me and after attending Mandatory classes that I had to be at for the State of Alabama as I am a licensed professional in my field of work....I had test that I had to pass each day of class and 6 test in 2 days with this kind of accomadations to stay in was such a disaapointment. I will be traveling againin 2 weeks to Mobile, Al on business but I promise I won't be staying at a Days INN! The staff at this motel was courteous and did try to accomadate but this motel needs to take some time and money to clean up and fix maintance problems.
