“Comfortable Stay/Rude Guest Service Agent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

Arrived Oct 9, 2010 12:50pm
Front Desk Clerk on duty was rude, unprofessional and very sarcastic.
I requested to speak with upper management and was told no one was there.
Room was nice, Had to wait 2 hrs after check in time to get into our rooms, only to find the toilet had not been cleaned, however, the housekeeper resolved the issue and apologized for the inconvience.
Overall, the property it self was beautiful, we enjoyed the court yard and the patio off from our room.
As a reward member I often stay with the Marriott Hotels. This was my first experience to witness an unpleasant staff member of a Marriott Property. I am sorry; I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family.

“Well kept, very comfortable, very nice."”

Hotel is easy to get to, and has many places for eating and shopping with a few miles. It was quiet, looks new, has free internet, new LCD tvs, very pretty, plush towels, and very clean. Nice hot tub inside and pool outside. Even has a grill for guests to use, as well as a gazebo. Laundry facilities are nice, great fitness center and free use of computers and printers int he business area. We needed a maintenance man and he came right away and fixed the problem. Felt safe in this area and hotel. Check in was quick, front desk was always helpful, loved the clean modern feel to this hotel. Stay here with family or for business. There ar emany other hotels that go for $39 a night, within a few blocks, but I think the clean and safe are worth it. My 14 year old son loved this hotel. If it had a PS3 he could rent, it would have been 5 star!

“Barely so-so.”

Desk clerk was careless, not entering our rewards number, room smelled musty, police officer checking vehicles in parking lot was unnerving, but the room was very quiet, maybe because there were probably only a few guests. We often stay at either Fairfields or Courtyards but this one just didn't seem to be up to Marriott standards.

“A Noisy Night at The Courtyard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2009

We stayed at The Courtyard following an Auburn football game played 50 miles down the road. The reasons were simple: it's a short drive from Auburn to save a whole lot of money on a hotel room, and it is conveniently located just off I-85 in the eastern section of Montgomery. Our $76 AAA rate was a pretty good value compared to surrounding properties.

Sadly, we'll probably remember our night at The Courtyard mostly for the noise. The walls were thick enough, but a door to the adjoining room wasn't nearly so. At 3AM, our next door neighbor was watching TV and we could hear about every word that was said. Initially, we just assumed he had turned up the TV volume. Nope! After trying in vain to sleep, I finally went next door and politely asked him to turn down the sound. It turns out the TV really wasn't all that loud; it was just the sound traveling through that door between the rooms. The poor guy was actually surprised that his TV was keeping anybody awake. The hotel obviously has an issue with the soundproofing between adjoining rooms.

Customer service was cause for concern, as well. While it was certainly speedy and professional at check in and check out, it was nonexistent during the night. Before knocking on the next door neighbor's room myself, I tried to leave the issue with the front desk -- their hotel, their customers. But they never answered the phone. We had an annoyance, but what if it had been an emergency?

Otherwise, the place is nice. Pleasant rooms, comfortable beds, and attractive grounds. Without the noise, both from next door and the hallway, I would have had no complaints. But we were at The Courtyard primarily for sleep, and that was somewhat difficult during our stay. Until the noise situation is resolved, there are better options in the immediate area.

“Fine for a quick stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2009

We stopped here in July, 2009 for one night on our way to New Orleans. Got a very good deal on Priceline. I can understand some of the concerns about it not being the best neighborhood, but they are doing some construction and may be rehabbing the area. We never felt unsafe. Its a typical Courtyard by Marriott conveniently located off of I-85 and only a few miles from I-65. The East Chase Mall is only one exit up and has some excellent shopping and chain restaurants.

No real complaints with the hotel/staff. The room was clean, everything worked. Breakfast was a little pricey ($10.95) so we opted for Burger King which was right next door. We wouldn't have an issue staying here again.
