“Both Good and Not So Good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2009

After reading the reviews, we chose this Quality Inn. Check-in was not without problems. I was the only one checking in and the clerk, who had been on the phone when I arrived, kept it on her shoulder throughout most of the process. Then, she told me that my credit card had been declined. This was not possible as I had purchased gas 30 minutes before. She just smiled at me, waiting for another card. She never said a word. No! I asked her to try it again, and that time it went through. Too bad she didn't offer to do that in the first place. We went to our room, and it was in a rear, quiet location. The room was basic but large and the bed was very comfortable. No problem there, other than it was a well used room and the paint on the bathroom ceiling was mostly peeling off. We had asked for a smoking room, but there was no ashtray. We drove down the road toward the city to find a restaurant, and there are not many in this area. We finally settled for Wendy's (very good). About 10:00 PM we heard what sounded like two quick gunshots, but not really close. That DID alarm us but, as we had noticed a security guard on duty at check in and there were a lot of other rooms occupied, we decided to stay, an OK choice. There is a free continental breakfast included, and it was really a no frills one, but there was cereal, toast, sweet rolls, coffee & juice. I tried using the phone to make a local call, but I could not make it. The desk clerk said that she didn't know what was wrong, maybe all the lines were busy. Nope. Tried to use Skype, but the internet service had quit (it had done that once before, and was not really very fast). Finally used a cell phone to make a local call. I'm a member of the Choice Privileges program and should receive a daily newspaper. When I didn't, I asked the desk clerk and she said they didn't have any, maybe the property "down the street" would have one. Upon check out, my bill had a charge for "Privilege Tax". I asked about it, but the clerk didn't know what it was. She asked the manager who said it was a new state tax. Since there was no specific tax entry for state tax, I guess this was reasonable. Overall, this was a comfortable room but nothing else. I would not stay here again.

“Basic--and disinfected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2008

The hotel is much larger than it appears from U.S. 80, and there are plenty of quiet rooms in the back that are far removed from the busy highway. The room was basic--no microwave, no refrigerator, no clock radio--but clean. My one complaint is that the smell of disinfectant was powerful. It was very noticeable every time I entered the room.

“Great Southern Hospitality At Quality Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2008

Every time I stay in Montgomery I stay here. Number one, it has a great suite with ample room and a nice jacuzzi for two. The rooms are clean which goes a long way with me. The staff are friendly and ever so helpful. I have not had one problem with this hotel. Anything I have needed they have been there to assist me. I go the extra mile each time to get the suite. I just can't get over the space in the living area. You feel like you are at home it is so big!

  • Liked — Spacious rooms and great check out time!
  • Disliked — Maybe it could use a fresh coat of paint, but that is all I can think of.

“Nice Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2008

I enjoyed my week long stay in this hotel. The room was large and clean
--no smells. Good weekly rate. 12:00 check-out. Good internet. They have HBO and Showtime. Plenty of towels. Refridgerator but no microwave. Pet friendly. The staff was nice. Anytime we are in Montgomery we will stay here. I have had some bad experiences in some of the area hotels but my stay here was a pleasure.

“Okay but I have had better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2007

We made reservations online and had no problem checking in. The lobby was clean and nice. The hotel does show its age in some area. The room was clean but needs to be updated. The main room is pretty spacious but the bathroom and vanity area are very small and cramped. It tooks several minutes for the hot water to reach our room. On the day after check-in, housekeeping took out most of the dirty towels and the shower curtain. The problem is they did not replace them. We had to call the front desk and they sent a maintenance person with a new curtain. The two closest ice machines were broken and I had to walk over to another building for ice. We were not informed on our last morning that the restuarant would be closed due to renovations. We walked up to the entrance and there were rolls of carpet all over. They had some bagels and muffins in the lobby instead. Overall the price was reasonable but I have stayed at better places for the money.
