I was planning to stay for two nights but left after one. It’s worth another $50 to be somewhere pleasant. So what were my complaints? To start with, there was so much air freshener (probably to cover a vague musty smell) that my nose started to burn immediately, and , the carpet felt strange and had what looked like grease stains - so wore my shoes the whole night. The bed had a plastic-y on it so the matress sort of crunched when you rolled over. Also the remote didn’t work, the rack on the fridge was rusty, and some damage to the wall (I kept thinking fistfight) was patched and covered with mis-matched paint. Though the hotel advertised wireless internet, I could only connect once or twice. The table I was trying to work on wobbled.
Also the doors open onto exterior walkways, and since my room was in the middle of the second floor all the off-duty BP cleanup workers hanging out in the parking lot were basically harassing me throughout the loooong walk to the room. I didn't even consider using the swimming pool, which is in the middle of the parking lot where all the men were hanging out. I locked the doors and closed the curtains but found myself wondering how secure they were. The next day, when I told a local woman where I had stayed, she made a face and said her daughter had a bad experience there too.
