“Find another place”

The inn is nicely located in the historic district right on a free tourist bus line that circles the area. However, the owners have two dogs on site and anyone with allergies to pet dander would find the main floor intolerable. The dogs, one of which is a St. Bernard, has unfettered access to the kitchen which during food prep we found unappetizing. We had made arrangements to leave before the normal breakfast time & the owners offered to provide an early breakfast. However, they forgot and we left without breakfast. Latly when we arrived a our next destination, I received an extremely rude email because they thought we had left comment about their pets in their visitation book, which we had not.

“First B&B experience was great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2010

My wife & I have talked about staying at a B&B for years and have never had the chance - till now. I was looking to surprise my wife with a small weekend break and I hopped online to see what I could find. Wanted something that was only a few hours away, and I came across My Victorian B&B on Resideo.com. The pictures looked great, it was in a perfect location (we wanted to stay & walk around downtown Mobile) and the reviews were very positive.

So, I booked! I knew we'd be arriving late, so I called & spoke with one of the owners, who assured me that it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived around 8:30pm, and sure enough, they were waiting for us!

The location is perfect -- on a mostly quiet side street, surrounded by other beautifully maintained older homes, but easy walking distance to the downtown area (museums, restaurants, etc.).

Breakfast each morning was fantastic! The other guests were extremely nice & talkative - it was easy to sit and chit-chat over the yummy meal.

The house itself is very nice - lots of purple green & gold (my wife, a NOLA native, was right at home here!). Rooms are well-appointed and beds are very comfy!

We weren't able to meet Jim, the male half of the couple that owns the home - they seem quite busy with other endeavors, but Naomi is nice as can be!

Overall, we are very happy to have My Victorian as our 1st B&B experience, and look forward to many more as we travel!

My wife and i just stayed here on 11 july 2009 and loved it ! We chose the Serenade Room and were very happy .The inn keeper was very attentive and polite . Location was great too . The area is a beautiful old southern neighborhood like we have back here in New Orleans . We will surely return !

“Great Stay at your B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

Thank you again for our stay this past Saturday! Lindsay and I found your beautiful B&B so relaxing and enjoyable. As soon as we walked through the front door, and you greeted us, all of our stresses disappeared. It was just what was needed after the full day we had. Your cooking is wonderful and I loved the bath!

Lindsay & Lorraine LaGrange

  • Liked — It was relaxing, very clean, food was great, and the owner were very warm and genuine.
  • Disliked — If they would have had rooms with more than one bed.

“Cozy Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2008

I booked a two night stay at My Victorian Bed and Breakfast after doing some internet research of the Mobile area. It's centrally located in the historic downtown area and is a great staging area for visiting downtown museums and shops, Bellingrath gardens, Dauphine Island beaches, and other attractions in the area. The virtual tour of the B&B allowed me to know what to expect. Each B&B is unique, and this one is no exception. You could imagine yourself living here in the early 1900s. It was really neat staying in this historic home and viewing the modern buildings in the horizon. It was old and new mixing. The back of their business card says "a memorable experience somewhere in time". Our room was tastefully furnished with period antiques. We booked the suite with the porch, and it was worth the extra amount we paid. Breakfast was good, especially the French toast. Bicycles were available for use, and there's a hot tub in the backyard which we used two nights. The downtown trolley picks you up in the front yard, but you will soon see that everything is within walking distance. Our host recommended a local restaurant that was exceptional, Wintzell's Oyster House. Sure the floor squeeked, but this was all part of the charm of this truly hidden gem of a place. I would recommend this B&B for its historic value, and downtown location. The owners and inn keepers, Jim and Naomi, are special people. PS. We stayed an extra night.
