“Nice People Clean Rooms, but still no pool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2009

I stopped at the hotel next door for their advertised price, no availability. I came next door and found that they "guaranteed" their advertised price and that is exactly what I got. I noticed the inoperable pool as I drove to park my car-no problem as I did not intend to swim. The ice machine worked just fine and I am on the internet via the motel's WiFi connection right now. The beds were VERY nice for this price point, newer linens, nice mattress and fluffy pillows.

“Horrible, horrible, horrible!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2007

ONE STAR is too high a rating! This motel had:
no spa/hot tub (as promised)
a broken pool (with no attempt at repair for months)
a broken wifi router (so NO INTERNET access at all)
a broken ice machine (so NO ICE)
a broken air conditioner (so we had to change rooms)
a toilet that rocked when you sat down
a 7” hole with a long crack in the ceiling
a rusted frig
holes & stains in the sofa
sticky & dirty carpeting
oily polish on the furniture
The loose phone line (which ran from the bathroom wall next to the light switch, down to the bedside table) had to be walked over to go into the bathroom (this hazard HAS to be a building code violation).

The front door to the lobby was always locked (are they THAT WORRIED about getting robbed?) The morning "breakfast" was only coffee & honey buns.

EconoLodge next door (with an indoor pool/spa and breakfast) was running a walk-up $45 special. If I hadn't had reservations at America's Best Value Inn, I would have gone there.

My daughter says this was FAR WORSE than any motel we’ve ever been in. It cost me $62.70 with tax, and half price would have been too much. This was my first America's Best Value Inn, and it will be my last! NEVER, EVER AGAIN!

“Filthy, Gross, Disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2006

I stayed here on March 16. By far the grossest, nastiest place I have ever stayed. My mother pulled back the comforter on her bed and there were blood stains on it, and the sheets were very wrinkled and "slept in" looking. When I pulled back the comforter on my bed the sheets were obviously dirty, and I don't know how to put this nicely, but there was a ... "love stain" on the sheet near the pillow. We went and told the manager on duty and he brought new linens in the room and changed them. (He even was bouncing a quarter off the bed to make sure they were made nicely!) He apologized profusely and seemed very embarrassed at by what we found on the sheets. We would have gone elsewhere , but every room was booked up in all of Mobile because so many families were down there to visit soldiers who were being deployed. The towels in the bathroom were also dirty. I slept on top of the covers in my clothes with my tennis shoes on and a shower cap covering my head because I was so grossed out. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!

“awful accommadations!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2004

We stayed here one night and that was one night too many. As we checked in the lady at the front desk asked us to use the stairs because the tile in front of the elevators was being replaced. No problem- we were only on the 2nd floor. As we got to our room the door was propped open with a chair and there was plastic sheeting in the floor. The carpet was wet, and the sinks ( both of them) were dirty with what looked like to be mud. Come to find out the man replacing the tile was using our room to get water to mix up the grout for the tile. I called the front desk and we were given the only other room which was a smoking room on the 3rd floor. During all of this the fire alarm went off no less than four times which was only annoying to me but it scared my son to death. He was crying and ready to go home. We left to go eat and try to get his mind off of the fire alarm but when we returned the elevator which they had told us to use at night was out of order so we had to use the stairs again. I guess the reason they wanted us to use the elevator at night was because the stairwell was very dark at night- not properly lit. My son didn't sleep much at all that night for fear the fire alarm would go off again so it made for a long night with little rest. The pool was murky at best and I couldn't testify to the breakfast because we didn't stick aroung long enough to check it out. Do not stay here. There are plenty of other hotels in the immediate area.
