“Too many mosquitoes at night; everywhere!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

1. Upon check in, rain was heavily and so no shelter to the resort room.
2. Parking; No problem
3. Not good accessible for wheel chair. Sorry mum, you had to stay in that room!
4. Standard room, poor maintenance! Even rain water get into the room!! Lookout for mattress..it was like 15 to 20 years back!!!
5. Dirty and smelly toilets!!
6. Upgrade to Deluxe Room which cost me RM275 per room, even the toilet's shower not in good condition.
7. Dinner; eat out
8. Breakfast; pathetic sausages and fried rice. Nothing much..
9. Only had a great times at swimming pool with kids...
10. Never intend to stay there again until they should done it like 15 yrs ago which was so relaxing and nice place to stay...

“Nice atmosphere but......”

My family and I went to the resort last weekend. When I first reached the place, i fell in love with the atmosphere, the design of the chalet and the beautiful beach. The toilet was clean but the jet shower was not working fully. But it was okay. But, the bed linen was not very clean and the mini fridge was not very cold. At night, there were lots of mosquitoes flying in the room. I had to spray insect repellent all over our bodies. In fact, I had to ask for Insecticide at the reception. After that, the mosquitoes were gone. We had a good sleep.
However, the swimming pool was too small and not very clean. It is not maintained properly. The Jacuzzi was not even working. The restaurant's food was delicious but the service was a bit slow though not many customers when we had our dinner. Breakfast menu was very minimal but the food was delicious. Should add more varieties of food.
I think it is about time, the resort should be refurbished. I would definitely go back there after the refurbishment as I like the atmosphere there.

“Shah's beach resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2009

This is not only a beach resort, but it also has it's own heritage centre and private library. The place is really quiet and relaxing. The rooms are nice, and the furnished with traditional Malay pieces.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

We found this gem of a place after the nightmare that was the Orkid. We were actually looking for the Everly which is just next door but there was no room there (or anywhere for that matter - if you are coming on a weekend I do recommend pre-booking) so we tried Shah's which is just next door. And we were so glad we did! For RM 200 a night we got a chalet right next to the sea and a short walk away from the pool. There is also a jacuzzi. Ours was a deluxe chalet and it was so romantic and comfortable. The facilities are excellent.

The location isn't so good if you don't have a car (we hired one). You are about 10km from Melaka so you really can't walk it! There are some good little roadside cafe's just down the road (just past the Everly). The beach is lovely but no-one swims in the sea, probably because of the pollution. On the horizon you can count at least ten ships at any given time of day. It is very picturesque though.

One small blight was I had money taken from my purse on my last day here. To be honest it is the sort of thing that can happen anywhere; I left my handbag in the same room as the cleaner, and I stronly suspect she took the money. However I would still come back here because it really is just beautiful, romantic and calm; everything you would want from a honeymoon!

“It's time for refurbishment..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2009

Stayed in the resort last weekend. We have booked 2 rooms with connecting door. The chalets are located in Tanjung Kling which is 15-20 minutes drive from Melaka city. I think it is owned by an individual. Nothing special but cozy enough for me and my family. But for those who are really into comfort, don’t stay here. Positive parts: 1. I really like the design of the chalet. 2. The chalets look like mini traditional Malaysian houses. 3. u have direct access to the sea. However, swimming is at your own risk. When we were there, nobody was swimming but there were a few people fishing. 4. The scenery behind our room was so breathtaking as our chalets were facing the sea. 5. The price is very reasonable. 6. Staff was friendly and helpful. 7. Food was ok. 8. The furniture at the lobby was kinda cool. Negative parts: 1. I think it’s time for the management to do some refurbishment, (windows were broken, peeled of paints, rundown bathroom, torn runner etc). 2. During breakfast, the waiter/waitress did not bother to refill the buffet. 3. Very small rooms. 4. No kettle in the rooms but u can request at the reception. 5. Mosquitoes were everywhere but electronic mosquito repellent was provided. 6. Spots on one of the bed linens. 7. Not enough facilities but they have swimming pools (for kids & adults) and also a Jacuzzi. The jacuzzi is also not well maintained. I don’t mind staying here again, but I really feel that it’s time for refurbishment and the chalets would be far better than it is now.
