Since all hotels in Jonker Street, the city centre and Melaka Raya were fully-booked for family room, we were more than happy to have found out that there's a room for us at Shah's Beach Resort in Tanjung Kling, some 15mins away by car from the places of attractions in Malacca town. We were informed over the phone that the only room available is with the least attractive view but we were okay with it since we desperately needed a family room in Malacca. Eventhough there's no deposit or credit card given to secure the room, the staff was nice enought to keep her words and reserve the room for us right up till just after 3:00pm when we arrived.
Our room was located on the front part of the resort, closer to the road. We get to park our car right outside our room. The room has a nice concept of a traditional Malay house but the furniture and the interior badly need some upgrading work. The bedding has some funny smell and I noticed the bedsheet were stained as well. The toilet and the bathroom look kind of eerie and badly need to be repaired too. Not all of our may windows could be locked but we just took our chance with it.
The entire resort is actually very beautiful with a well-maintained garden and pool. The best part about this resort is it is fronting the Straits of Malacca and eventhough there's no beach but you can just chill out on the many chairs. I reckon the place would be suitable for a big group gathering as it even has a smal field and volleyball court. There's also a spa but I find the price rather steep.
Breakfast was simple but has a taste of home-cooked food consist of fried rice, fried kueteow, toast with butter and jam, some fruits, cereal and the regular beverage of coffee, tea and cordial.
The staff that I came across were all helpful and friendly. I like this place but I really hope they do some major upgrading of the rooms and change the entire bedding, change the tiles of the toilet and clean up the toilet ceiling as well. It's a pity if the management lets this place just deteriorate with time....
Room Tip: Request for garden view rooms near the pool, they are lovely but not the ones directly opposite the...
