We stayed in a beach-facing hut at Cuba Agonda and it was a very pleasant experience all in all. The room was basic but clean and spacious for a beach hut. A geyser attached to each bathroom provided hot water 24 hours a day. The 2 small things that I liked were that each room had a broom and bathroom mop to slide all the water out and keep it dry. These may seem like insignificant things but when you have a 3-yr old running in and out of the room and loo with sandy wet feet these 2 items really come in handy, especially if you like a clean floor and dry bathroom. Each room has a little seating area outside with 2 chairs, a table, and a hammock. It would have been nice to relax in the hammock, enjoy a drink, and listen to the sound of the sea. However, it was rather smelly so we didn’t really use it. Would be nice if they gave them a wash every now and then coz I can only imagine the number of people who have a snooze in them.
There were also a whole lot of toys for the children to play with…sand toys, frisbees, connect 4 etc...quite convenient…rules out the need to carry entertainment for your tot! Another plus was the free Wifi connection, which was quite fast too.
The food was good quality- and quantity-wise and the fish, very fresh. I highly recommend the fish steaks. The fish tandoori (served only in the evenings) was also nice. The staff, Lelin, Rana, and Krishna, were friendly and helpful.
Agonda beach is a nice quiet beach, no hawkers worrying you to buy stuff, just the occasional dog barking. The sea is a bit rocky though and there are undercurrents. The waves are a little strong, especially for a child. They’re better off just wading in upto their ankles or playing in the sand.
