“Average Stay,Close to Beach,Bad Room Service (food)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

I and My husband stayed there from Dec1 to Dec3,2011. They charged 1800/- Per day for AC Regular room without brkfast/Food.
Room was spacious, clean and has basic furniture like TV table, Mini Fridge (empty), Tea Table and Bed. they provide Towel, Napkin and Toilet Roll.Furnishing was below average and old. We had to wait for 15-30 mins as Room was getting cleaned when we reached at 12.30 Noon.
Its just 2-3 minutes walk from Calangute Beach, they have restaurent and Bar where you can have food. we tried twice, did not like it much. Morning ordered in Room was cold and bad.
They have small but clean Swimming Pool, and balcony with the Room.
The biggest issue is they do not have intercom / phone in the room so everytime You want to order something you have to go down to reception.

Overall it is basic stay with no frills, you can miss it If you want to stay in luxurious/Cozy hotels with better services/Food.
If you mind spending on hotel stay, this is economic option to stay in Goa for 1800/1900 Per night without food.

Room Tip: If possible take package with Bed & Breakfast in any hotel in Goa, will save cost and headache.

“FANTASTIC HOTEL, GREAT STAFF, STAY THERE AGAIN.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

I have just read some reviews on maggies and think some people expect 5 star conditions in Goa! Maggies was excellent value for money and rooms are very clean, spacious and have all you need to a comfortable stay. The service from restaurant staff was great also the cleaners worked very hard. Even the cleaner went and got me a full lobster from the market, the chefs cooked it to perfection, for only £10, fantastic!! Great place stay there again

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the pool

“great location....enjoyed our stay”

stopped here for a week after looking at other various hotels/b&b's...we found this place very reasonably priced compared to what the other places were charging, and its literally only minutes from the beach
the rooms were very spacious, clean with basic amenities but enough for our needs and we were very comfortable. you have a large balconey with padded chairs and a table to sit out on overlooking the pool.
the rooms are cleaned every day to a high standard and the towels/bedding changed every other day.
there is room service so you have to go down to the restaurant to request this as there are no phones in the rooms, but this is only a minor problem and not a negative as the hotel staff are excellent, very hard working and friendly.
breakfast wasn't included in the price we paid, but this wasn't a problem as we ate in their restaurant where the food is cheap anyway...its also very tasty as well!!
overall we had a fantatic time at Maggies and would highly recommend this place

“Good value accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

My wife and I have just returned from a trip to India including 9 nights at Maggies.
Summary :
Good Points : Central Location near beach , price (£30 / night B&B ) Clean with nice pool, Room had new a/c unit also fan., balcony overlooking pool.

Not so good : very basic accomodation , basic breakfast ( unless you negotiate some extra tea, toast and jam)
Seemed to have a large number of long stay Brits. plus a few other toursits for short stays.
When you compare it with a typical UK package hotel in the vicinity such as the Nizmar , Osborne etc they are 50% + more expensive and on looking at their facilities Maggies gives good value for money.
I was surprised to be required to forward a large depoist by money transfer to India to confirm the booking.
They will also arrange for airport transfers at 800 RPS each way.
As long as you are prepared to accept basic but clean accomodation Maggies is good value.Owner Simon is in daily attendance which allows any issues to be swiftly resolved.
Good food available in restuarant at reasonable price .

“Ideal location & reasonable prices but pay attention to the state of your room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011

On arrival at airport, taxi provided by hotel was present. We paid Rs 600 (regular faire Rs 700 – which we paid when get got back to the airport).

But on arrival at the hotel, nothing was ready in our room: AC refusing to start, cable TV making some noise, its remote defect and without batteries, no towels, no toilet paper, no bed sheets and pillow covers and, last but not least, the room’s door was not locking.
Upon my instance to the manager, another room was shown to me: larger facing the restaurant across the pool (pool was OK), where everything had been readied for customers arriving on the next day. This room also had mosquito insecticide plugged, unlike ours (we had to purchase it since the employee told me they don’t have this in the hotel).
Eventually, after a couple of hours wasted, everything got fixed.

The room (“Deluxe” with AC – Rs 2,250, taxes and BF included, though the manager tried to bill me Rs 10,000 for 4 nights … maybe a real mistake) was clean, large and comfortable enough for the price in this area, with a correct bed, a table with a chair, a sort of mini-kitchenette with fridge, and the classic Indian bathroom with 24 hours solar heater water – thus depending on the availability of sunlight) and a sitting area/balcony. But the room was also somewhat tired and unmaintained, especially compared to the hotel’s website pictures – SEE MY PICTURES.
The hotel has 11 of these "deluxe" rooms, all clustered in 6 2-storeys bungalows, plus a few “regular rooms” (Rs 1,900 - taxes and BF included) near the reception area.

The staff and the manager/owner were friendly and attentive.

The very basic complimentary BF consisted in a cup of tea/coffee and either 2 sunny side up eggs with 2 toasts, either 3 toasts with butter and jam (another common thing in Goa, at least in that price category).

I ate once at the hotel’s restaurant. Food and ambiance were surprizingly good.

Swimming pool was appropriate: clean and large enough.

Considering the reasonable price and the wonderful location 4 minutes walk from the Calangute beach, though it might not meet all foreign tourists expectations, Maggie’s is a friendly place and isn’t a bad value for money at all, provided you check your bill and make sure that everything is working or gets fixed asap once you reach.
