We like to visit Goa to do nothing by the beach and enjoy the local cuisine. On our visit in Jan 2001 we felt like splurging a bit and stay at Taj Exotica for 5 nights . We heard good reviews about the hotel from our friends and felt we must give it a try. We booked a pick up with Taj and the car was bang on time at the train station. Check in was very smooth. We were enjoying a cool Kokum drink as our check in was being processed. This was the only hotel I have been to where I was comfortably relaxing in the lounge as the check in was done and not standing at the counter. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was very good, tidy and well maintained. We had a new towel arrangement everyday which was cool.
On a couple of days we had breakfast at the hotel. Yes was a bit expensive, but worth it. The idlis were probably the best I ever had in India. A unique aspect of this breakfast is that fruits are freshly juiced on demand. No more canned juices or stored juices. there are two chefs equipped with juicers. Been to a few 5 star hotels all over the world, but never seen anything like this. Hats off to Taj Exotica for this novel idea. On one evening while we were relaxing in the lounge a 6 or 7 year old Russian girl was playing the piano. Listening to the little ones music and looking at the waves and the starry sky was a fantastic experience. Overall was a pleasant stay, however recommend the guests to keep an eye on their belongings at all times.
