“I did not like it as much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Had gone there with a lot of expectation of wonderful hospitality & an amazing ambience. Had prebooked a 2 bedroom cottage after seeing the pics on the net inspite of the fact that even a 1 bedroom cottage would have worked well. Upon reaching the place I was shown a 2 bedroom cottage that was extremely dingy & was at the back of the resort (Room P). The room had no windows or any other source of natural light & was very small. I was told that all the other rooms are taken & that I should opt for a 1 bedroom cottage as I dont really require a 2 bedroom cottage. I was shown two 1 bedroom cottage & was asked to choose one. I opted for one out of the two though even that room was not upto the mark. I was told that all the other rooms, that definitely looked better from the outside were already taken. However it was only in the late evening that the rooms were occupied. So I inferred that they keep the better rooms for the walk in guests & keep the poor ones for those who have prebooked. So i learnt a lesson that day, the hard way.
Having checked in, the experience was delightful. The resort had a lovely earthly feel to it & is a superb alternate accomodation in Goa, though at times you do feel cramped for space. The resort was well spread at the front & had good flowers & greenery all around.
Room:
The room was quite average. It lacked any opening or windows & was totally devoid of any natural light or air. The room was quite dimly lit & even reading a book in the evening was strenous. The electric fittings were extremely old & there was not even a single plug point from wherein you could charge your mobile, ipad etc. The AC did not have a temperature or speed control & was extremely noisy, though the bed was extremely comfortable & the linen was very clean & hygienic.
Service:
The service guys were ever smiling & helpful although had their own limitation. Infact I was asked to carry a bag at the time of check in as the guys hands were full :). I had a poor experience as I wanted to hire a motorcycle for the day. The reception guided me to the restaurant guy who had all sort of stories as to how this is seasons time in Goa, & how no motorcycles are available & whatever available are being given at a premium. I was asked to pay Rs.600 for a day for the Activa scooter. However i refused & walked down to the main gate wherein a guy readily gave me his scooter for Rs.300. So that left a sour taste in the mouth.
Food:
The food was very edible & almost like home made except that the choices were quite limited. I requested the restaurant guy to arrange for a fresh lobster/crab/red snapper the next day, however they failed & what was shown to me was a stale red snapper.
Location:
The resort is located about a Km away from the Anjuna beach. However all the parts of the beach are equidistant & so the location is quite convenient provided you have your own transport.

Room Tip: You should really choose before check in as all the rooms are different & vary in quality.

“Friendly staff, good food, amazing ambience !”

Laguna Anjuna is beautiful blend of laid back style, with all the ammenities!
We stayed there for 5 days and it was one of the splendid time spent.
Room service was quick.
The rooms were spik and span.
The resort is dog friendly which is an added advantage, since we travel with dogs.
The pool is nice, clean and blue in the day and warm at night. And we friends had lot of fun in the pool, while listening to the live concert by the pool.
The breakfast spread is good with homemade jams !
Rooms are spacious and bathrooms are wonderful.
The resort is just 5 mins from the Anjuna beach, which makes it wonderful !
And the mini-fridge is nicely stocked all the time !
We had dinner in the resort, twice, once we opted for goan thali and another time continental, both the times, we were blown away!
The only thing the resort needs to check on is lighting in the room, in the evening, the lights seemed too less.
And the beds were nicely done with Goan-Portugese style.

“Good place to stay - very laid-back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Laguna Anjuna is a boutique property, with lots of space and a laid back atmosphere. So as they also make it abundantly clear, its not meant for tourists who expect hotel service or facilities. But nevertheless, I like such Laguna, which has its own rustic charm and provides an excellent place to rot during a holiday. The place has good staff and decent service, but don't expect anything immediately.

The location of the hotel is superb - just 5 mins away from the Anjuna beaches, especially South Anjuna beach, which I really like. But since its in the interior, I was glad that I hired a bike to travel around and this helped me a lot.

The rooms are very nice - done in traditional Goan-Portugese style and I understand that each room has been styled slightly different. Unfortunately, it was raining and our roof started leaking - but the hotel was prompt enough to change our room immediately. The restaurant is very good - has an ample variety of food selection. The breakfast is bit of a letdown, but my wife and I had anyway made plans to have breakfast at different places at Anjuna and Baga.

The property needs some amount of sprucing up and maintenance, in my opinion. At the same time, I traveled during off-season and may be the position is different during peak seasons.

The tariffs are very affordable in my view and one should consider this hotel, provided you want to stay away from the action packed beaches of Baga and Calangute.

Room Tip: The two rooms with the dome are very nice.

“Lovelly staff, laid back and chilled environment but needs some attention”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Staff are always pleasant, easy and helpful, good facilities and great dog to greet you at breakfast. Pool that is enormous and great relaxing sunbeds on lawns around the pool. Beautiful well maintained gardens. Rooms are spacious but very dark even with all lights on, water pressure makes showers difficult as water just dribles out and rooms need good clean up ... particularly the toilets bowls. Building maintainance needs attention ... worth a visit but not up to scratch for the cost of staying here.

“Green property but not luxurious”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Laguna Anjuna is a decent place to stay for people who want that feeling of staying amidst nature. The Villa we booked had an old world feeling to it. This is not a place to stay if you are looking for luxury though. The intercom system is weird and you have to dial full telephone numbers each time. The hotel area is deserted at nights and even during days. Taxis are hard to get and they overcharge. Also the location is far off from other parts of Goa. Stay here if you can tolerate insects and lizards and hens. Its a very green property. The Wifi is pathetic and there are frequent power cuts too.
