This hotel is definitely dated but there are some interesting twists.
Pro:
My class was in this building so there was no transportation issue in getting to class on time.
Breakfast was put out every morning on time and in sufficient quantity to feed the amount of people staying at the hotel.
The buffet lunch is definitely good. Everyday at lunch time, they put out a spread that is a solid meal--meat, potatoes, veggie, salad, roll, drink and dessert for a set price. If you are staying at the hotel, you can raise your room rate by $2 per day and get a meal ticket for the week.
By staying at the hotel, you get a pass to the University of Alabama fitness center which is fantastic. I spent every evening over there working out.
The hotel has a van at night Sunday thru Thursday only that will take you anywhere you need to go.
The wireless internet signal was strong at any location.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

Cons:
There are no stores nor eating places within walking distance unless you walk at least 3/4 of a mile.
The hotel is hard to find behind a big clump of bushes.
Because it was summer break, there were no facilities open after class time except the fitness center. The fitness center is 1/2 mile away from the hotel.
Trying to get a reservation was a hassle. I emailed like I was supposed to then I had to call to confirm.
The room was dated and dark with small windows and of course, the floral bedspread.

We stayed at the BCCH in March 2007. Based on the hotel locator sites, all the well-known hotels had no vacancies for our dates. Thus, we were reluctant to stay here because the hotel was not familiar to us. Making the reservation was pleasant and a surprise as we got a rate lower than was listed on the websites. However, when we arrived, we realized that this was not a typical hotel. It is located on the campus of the University of Alabama at Huntsville; actually, my husband passed it several times before realizing that it was what he was looking for. The front desk staff and service people were extra nice. However, the hotel hallways, rooms, and furniture show signs of aging, and somewhat resemble dorm rooms moreso than hotel rooms. The two-double bed room was very small. We transferred to a suite, which was nicer, but still showed signs of aging. The continental breakfast was very nice (sausage and ham biscuits, toast, waffles, milk, juice, and coffee). The Garden Restaturant has an awesome buffett. The food was delicious! This facility is away from main stream shopping and restaurants.
