“Friendly, Comfortable and Affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I work in Birmingham for 6 days 6 times a year and found the owner and management to be both friendly and available for any needs. The room is comfortable and houseleeping always has things done up right and resupplied daily. People can pay more for a motel but in my opinion they are better served with this choice. No one can guarantee 100% of the time that there will not be some problem but the main point is that the owner and management are on site and available to do what they can at all times.

Room Tip: I prefer first floor because of medical issues.

“Very Nice hotel!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

To start off we got lost trying to find the hotel,so we called and they was so helpful! We wasnt 5mins down the road from it. The lady at the front desk was the most sweetest woman. When we got to our room it was very clean a little stuffy but very clean and nice.We had plenty of towels and wash cloths.I didnt like being on the 3rd floor with 3small children but that is my only complaint. Breakfast was fresh and good. There was plenty to go around. There was no rift raft out and about so we slept wonderful it was very quite. It was a great experience I will most def. stay here again and recommand it to anyone.

“Comfortable and Safe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011 via mobile

I stay here 3-4 times a year since my job brings me to Bhm area a lot. The mgmt & desk clerks have always been friendly. I and my co-worker(s) are all female, and having the room entrances on the inside is a lot safer for us & also gives our husbands piece of mind. With easy access to the interstate, we can get out of Bhm after the day is done, and have a safe (and it's also quiet) rest.

“Much better than reviews lead me to believe and in convienent area too.”

First of all I want to start this by saying that even though this place did not have the best reviews I still decided to give it a try...I'm glad I did. We were going to Birmingham for one of the medical centers and needed a good cheap hotel near by. This is only one exit away and is in a good area. I know the below review is a bit long but please read it if you want a full review on this place. But the short version is I suggest if you need a good cheap place to stay to go here…First of all I want to say a few things about previous reviews... If you read the previous ones than you will notice most of the complaints are not about the important things about the hotel but more about people around the hotel, smells, needing to update the look of the place. To me those are not really important. I care more about it being clean, things working well, being safe, good price, etc..As for the previous reviews I want to clarify some of it before I tell you about the place its self. The guy in the lobby others mentioned is actually the maintenance guy. Yes, he does spend time around the lobby but what the previous reviewers failed to state is that he lives on site (which is a good thing) and is friends with the lady at the front desk. That's why he's there alot. I purposely went out of my way to talk to him while we were there. He’s just a normal guy that’s bored. Trust me, if you stay in this area you will see what I mean. Unless you want to hang out at Wal-Mart there is not much to do at this exit in the area but it is a good area for the stores it offers near by and if you are going to Birmingham for anything it is near by. The smell…The smell others posted about is actually just the smell of the laundry room which happens to be on the same floor and right down the hallway from where our room was. Is not a bad smell, just smells like a laundry room, to me was not even very strong. While on the topic one thing I like about this hotel is that it has inside entry to the rooms and if you notice behind the front desk there is a video monitor of the whole place. Cameras all down the hallways and outside that are always on and watched. I liked that about this place. I never like hotels with outside entry. And to come in this place you have to go by the person at the front desk or use a side entrance that only opens with a hotel room key. Now as for the place needing to be updated. Yes, it does not look 100% perfect. What do you expect from an older hotel. It needs some touch ups and things like paint and caulking could look better. But on that same note the caulk is where it should be, and clean, paint is not chipping, fabric and beds are all clean and the place may need cosmetic improvement but everything in it works well and was all clean. I honestly care more about the hotel being clean and nice than how well a paint job someone did on a room. I took some photos of the room. Trust me I have seen much worse looking places than this. And on the subject of being clean, our room was cool, clean and nice when we arrived. We even had to check out and thought we were leaving just to come back and have to re check in again that nite and were given the same room we had checked out of earlier that morning after it had been cleaned all the way and it was just as clean as the first time we arrived. Other than that we had no issues with anything working in the room, everything was clean even microwave and mini fridge were very clean and worked well. The room has a window unit and it cooled the room plenty for us, wasn’t noisy either. Also speaking of noise the area we were in we never heard anything once we got into our room it was really quiet. Also I liked that the parking was right outside our room so we could actually park right outside our room window and keep an eye on our car. As far as the rest of the area if you need a good little cheap hotel to stay in I would suggest trying this place out. We even asked to check the room before we checked in and they had no problem with us doing so. Also we had to change our check in time a few times due to delays getting there and they were nice and helpful about that as well. The only thing we didn't really see was breakfast because we were asleep but from the looks of the breakfast area I would assume it is along the lines of cereal, fruit, pastries, things like that. I would also suggest staying here for the area it is in as well. The hotel is right by a nice bbq place called jim n nicks, walmart, kmart, grocery stores, fast food, gas stations, dollar stores, hardware stores, everything really. Also is right down the Interstate from Birmingham. I would also definitely suggest eating at jim n nicks though if you stay anywhere near here. I love the food!!!

“Would definitely recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

The price was reasonable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room came with a refrigerator and microwave. Other hotels we have stayed in, we had to pay extra for a refrigerator and or microwave. This hotel has free coffee 24 hrs. It offers a continental breakfast. The room was very clean. It is also a pet friendly hotel. It also has free high speed internet. We checked out another hotel close by and you had to pay for the internet. If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely stay here again. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
