OK -- this hotel must have been updated since the last reviews. We stayed for a night while passing through Birmingham. The Attala exit is a few stops before you reach Birmingham. The room was clean, comfortable, and while not luxurious, well worth the $36 we paid for it. The beds were comfortable and clean, the area seemed as safe as any near an interstate, the lobby was spacious (that's where breakfast is served), and they had a hot breakfast buffet included in the price of the room. Overall, a great budget hotel.

The absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in – nasty and scary. I wouldn’t stay here again without a handgun. Thankfully we were only staying here one night to break up the drive for our trip to celebrate our first anniversary. After we got settled into our first room, we pulled back the covers and found multiple hairs in the bed! The front desk attendant gave us another room. We walked into this room and it felt like it was 40 degrees. The heat was off in December. So we turned the heat on and inspected the bed. Luckily, we found no hairs so we decided to stay. The scariest thing was that the doors between connecting rooms would not latch. The first room just had a slide bar like most exterior hotel room doors. Since the doorknob wouldn’t latch, your neighbors could just push open the door until the slide bar caught, allowing a good 3-inch gap for a peep show. To remedy this, we pushed a chair against the door and pushed the sofa up on top of it to secure the door. The doorknob also wouldn’t latch in our second room. This one had a deadbolt instead of the slide bar. However, the strike plate didn’t line up with the deadbolt either so the bolt wouldn’t extend fully. Basically, we only had the door molding to keep us safe from whoever happened to be staying next door. There was no sofa in this room, so we piled our luggage up in front of the door and hoped for the best. These were the major issues. Aesthetics and cleanliness certainly weren’t priorities for this hotel either. Very dissatisfied – please don’t stay here.

For the money, an acceptable value, but a few issues with the room. The rooms were large but the bathroom was not as clean as I would have liked. They served a hot buffet breakfast which was a nice surprise. No elevator however. The room's deadbolt was broken and this concerned me. For $40 a night, though it was a decent place to sleep.

Reasonable rates ($43.00 at this writing) large comfortable, clean rooms. We arrived at 2AM and were greeted by a friendly staffer. Close to shops and supermarkets as well as restaurants.
