“Nice folks.... but a bit run down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The Holiday Inn Express is far from a luxury hotel. I have however come to expect decent service and a relatively well kept facility. You will get decent service at this location with free lemonade and popcorn when you come in after work. The breakfast is decent as well. The facility however has a run down feel. My shower curtain wouldn't stay closed because the rod wasn't firmly attached to the wall, the "business center" was a small counter in the main corridor with horrible internet speed, and one of the side doors remained cracked open the 2 days that I stayed. I gave the room an average rating but I was close to giving it a 2 because of the shower curtain.

“Sorry for your Inconvenience ....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Wish I had read review before staying at this location. It was horrible. The king bed sunk in the middle so bad it was difficult getting in and out, it was lumpy, and the pillows were very used. The cable TV only had 6 stations and did not get ABC or NBC. Receiption was terrible on what stations did come in with purple lines and static. When I mentioned this to the manager she stated that they are changing the cable boxes and sorry for inconvenience (I heard this a lot). The microwave did not work, a different lady came to room and tried to work it but was unsuccessful so we went to the Meeting room where the kitchen microwave was located and it did not have a glass turn table, they had a plastic HI tray inside that was melted. Speaking of kitchen, the eggs were cold, had to reheat them in this meeting room microwave, the milk was out of date, the cinnamon rolls were dried out and tasted like plastic, the cereal was old, I will say the pancake machine was working and they were good. The outside temperature was in the 50-60's while I was there and the inside of the building was 85-90 degrees in the halls and kitchen areas and in my room. I had the air conditioner set at 67 but it didn't get that cool. It was actually cooler outside than inside. The floors creeked really bad as if they were going to break thru. The Fitness room was closed due to renovation - another big disappointment especially since there was no TV to watch. And forget printing out anything in the "Business" area, there was no computer hooked up to printer. The manager did not offer any compensation to the room rate for any of these renovation inconveniences, she just kept saying "Sorry for your inconvenience". Well I'm sorry for hers. I travel every week with my job and I will not be staying there again. This is one Holiday Inn Express that will not make my Favorite List. The only positive things were a good refrigerator, good wireless internet, and a good shower pressure and temperature. The rest of the stay was a very disappointing. This place does not meet Holiday Inn Express standards, unless this is a sign of future standards. And if so, I will be finding other places.

Room Tip: ask for room far away from smoking rooms or exits where smokers gather, she tried but I smelled smok...

“Best Hotel Stay in Years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

Nicest hotel we have stayed in years. We travel a lot and this hotel looked almost new. Room was very clean, pleabty of desk space for office work/computers. TV worked fine and was mounted on a swivel mount. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. This double room cost us $77.00 a night with a military discount. even at the normal price of around $90 it would rival the Intercontinental hotel on Michigan avenue in Chicago - just missing a concierge. The only neagtive point is that it is located in the middle of nowhere in Alabama. Great stay will definitely go back if we find ourselves in the area again.

Room Tip: all rooms are very nice

“Worst stay ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

I had been traveling for work since Jan., this was June 2 nights and then I could go home. Someone used my computer it locked up when I got home and had it worked on someone had tried to order a universal remote control from my computer. I had to cancel all my credit and debit cards, file a dispute with the credit card company And if that wasn't enough, I thru back my sheet from my coverlet to find 3 bugs, that looked like bed bugs! I told management that night, the next morning when I checked out. Contacted Priority Club and heard from hotel customer service to tell me they were sorry! Because of their lack of concern I asked for a refund of my 2 nights stay again they told me they were sorry. I would never stay there again and I doubt I would ever stay at a Holiday Inn Express again just because of the lack of concern.

“Great General Manager but one or two downpoints.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

The general manager was polite, pleasant and accomodating. Nyki and Michaela were wonderful to interact with. They were polite, smiled and dealt very well with the hotel guests. However, I cannot say that about all the desk staff. The hotel is small but comfortable. The room was clean, bed comfortable, and the maid staff were very polite and greeted you at every occassion. The complimentary breakfast was very good and was warm. And everyboday was raving about a pancake machine, which i did not use. The only negative thing about this hotel is that they have no private business center. Their business center is located in the hallway, where there are numerous distractions, noise from the cleaning staff and children using the computer. The shuttle driver I had was appalling, rude and LAZY. I left a 400 dollar pair of glasses in the van and I know that she probably threw them away after I complained about her..
