My family has stayed at this hotel several times over the past couple of years and we LOVE IT! Each time we try to get a hospitality suite with connecting bedrooms, but all of their rooms are wonderful. Each has a balcony overlooking the beautiful pool area and the river. Every bite we have eaten at any of the restaurants on the property was delicious. This is the ONLY place my husband will order shrimp & grits now. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. If the name intimidates you...forget it! This place has the most casual and relaxing atmosphere ever.

I'm shocked by the first review complaining about their reservation/credits. If you make a reservation through a discount agency and not directly with the hotel you are asking for mistakes. Do not blame Marriott. We are platinum members of Marriott because of their wonderful service worldwide. This hotel is lovely. The staff is wonderful. From the time we arrived we received wonderful service. The hotel ammenities are more than sufficient.

My husband and I were looking for a one night get a way since it was our 26 year ANNIVERSARY . Usually we travel to the closest big city which is Memphis to find nicer accommodations, but where told by a Huntsville, Ala couple about This Hotel. Looked it up on Travel Adviser and made the decision to book a room for Saturday night, we had been to Florence before and had liked the wide variety of eating establishments, malls etc that we don't have in this little Mississippi town we recently move to from San Diego, Ca. Upon arriving, we noticed the grounds were beautiful and right next to the Tennessee River. We were greeted at the door before we even entered the Hotel by a gentlemen named Ron. We had noticed there was a indoor pool and Jacuzzi (in addition to the outside one) which was great because the weather was lousy and raining, but realized we had not brought anything to swim in, Ron along with the very nice checkin girl, explained there was a Kmart just down the road. After we checked in, we decided to just go ahead and go over to the Kmart before we actually went up to the room...just down the road was a huge area with shops, malls and many Restaurants. We had decided to go back and eat at one of the restaurants later that evening. As we returned, Ron once again met us with much info on the area, and made pleasant chit chat as we entered the elevator, he then ask for my key card and told us since it was our anniversary he had upgraded us to a nicer room on a different floor. WOW what a nice room it was! A BEAUTIFUL suite with a balcony overlooking the pool, river and Dam, He even had a card signed by the staff and cheese plate sitting there for us wishing us a happy anniversary! What a nice unexpected surprise! We also decided to stay at the hotel and not go out for dinner, because it was so nice! Instead. we went up to the 360 Grill (beautiful revolving restaurant and Bar) not even sure how high it is in the air but the views are breathtaking! Again, met with a very nice and professional younger waiter and restaurant staff who were ALL extremely amazing. After a couple drinks we went down to the other Bar and Restaurant, Swampers, and had drinks and appetizers down there, AGAIN met with a magnificent male server, who took time to talk with us and gave exceptional service. Microwave Dave was setting up to play from 9-12, but since the pool closed at 11 we decided to try and get in a little swimming before going up to the room to watch the football game and order room service. The pool was great, we first went out to the jacuzzi (outside in the rain) for a bit and then moved inside, we had the pool all to ourselves, but couldn't get the Jacuzzi to come on, we called up to the desk and they sent someone right away to fix it. This was an absolutely wonder one night stay, I wish we would had stayed longer. Great customer service makes all the difference, my husband and I do ALOT of traveling since our kids have grown and this by far, in all our years, is one of our nicest experiences!! THANKS RON AND EVERYONE AT MARRIOTT SHOALS, we will surely be back!!! I would totally recommend this Hotel to anyone!!

The hotel is really beautiful, but the housekeepers don't clean the room well. It is a really expensive hotel so that the people that work there take 2 minutes yo do the bed wrong and just to pick up the bathroom without Washing anything.
