“This hotel needs to be torn down.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

I stayed at this hotel 7/30/10 to 8/1/10. My room smelled very musty and there was mildew in the bathtub. Later I found the source of the smell on the air vent in the bedroom...black mold all over the vent. There was thick dust on the air return. That made me question what the ducts look like if I was seeing black mold on the outside of the vent. The carpet was stained, the windows have not been cleaned in years judging by all the bugs and cobwebs. Lastly, there was some kind of bug in the kitchenette sink that I have never seen before. I had to request to move to another room. The new room was better but still felt old and some bathroom fixtures were breaking. This hotel seemed old and dated and smelled old. Someone needs to tear down this place and start over.

“Hotel Creepy!! Never will stay there again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

1st day we arrive....NO ONE in hotel but us...get to room farthest away from the only elevator on 2nd floor....rooms are very nice, but the tv's do not work for two days, water barely works on 1st day and 2nd day is completely out!! When it comes back on 3rd day...barely has enough water pressure to brush teeth, could not take a bath or shower at all. Toliet overflowed also, called housekeeping to mop up the floor, but they are gone for the day at 1 p.m. already??? Had to get our own towels, etc...clean it ourselves. Had a very "uneasy feeling" the whole stay especially since there were no other people there in the hotel...I only saw one other couple the entire stay. NO ONE was ever in the breakfast room or in the halls or lobby?? Very creepy!! Kind of felt "haunted" since there were no people but us and the lobby workers. You would never see anyone at the hotel. We were the only car outside in the parking lot other then one other. The last night we were there...our truck got broke into right under our 2nd floor window! The truck alarm was going off. The train is not an issue. Never heard the whistle or noise hardly. Our problems were never taken seriously by the staff...especially with our young children. You would think they would have been more accomadating. We will never stay there again just because of the "uneasy" feeling it gave us. Especially with no other people there. Very Creepy! The hotel itself was very nice and spacious and clean. But we do not recommend staying there. .

“TThis place needs help”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2009

No improvement on this place since the first review in Aug. 2008. The only reason I stayed at this place is because I was part of a group. Uncomfortable feeling is an understatement. There is no excuse for this. You walk in and it still smells like Old Hotel, Rooms were 1/2 cleaned, TV's did not work, Towels had stains and holes in them, thick dust on the a/c returns which makes the room dusty, water coming under the walls and from the ceiling because of a flood and a train horn in the middle of the night. You can tell they've had problems with flooding because there are alot of patches on the ceiling from repair. Seems like they had their unexperienced maintenance people try and upgrade the texture on the ceilings and walls in the bathrooms. Its so rigged I could have done a better job. They need PROFESSIONAL repairs and they need to stop relying on their "rigging, fixing maintenance crew". Maintenance repairs are done in an unnacceptable quality and they are ruining this place. Carlson hotels should know about all these problems. They shouldn't carry the Country Inn & Suites name until this place is must/mold free and updated.

“So Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2008

My family tends to use Country Inn and Suites when we travel, we always find them rather new, extremely clean and "fresh", spacious and with good breakfasts.
This time was different. When we checked in to the hotel, I couldn't help but noticed the place seemed deserted. Hardly any cars in the lot, no people around. We checked in just fine and walked to our room on the other end of the hotel (the place is enormous). The halls were damp and musty, it smelled of "old hotel". I was surprised.
Our room was very large, which was good. We had a room with a pull out couch and then a separate bedroom. The room was musty too. It was very dated, not like some of the other CIS I've been to. It looks as though they are trying to renovate a bit with bedspreads and curtains, but that doesn't take away the mold in the shower, the old and falling apart bathroom fixtures, the uncomfortable feeling we couldn't shake.
But we slept ok, minus the few trains that came by (the hotel is right on a train track). Breakfast was rather unappetizing.

In the morning, we found that our car had been vandalized in the parking lot right outside the hotel. Someone tried to break in the driver's side. and the frame around the window was pulled out and the car completely scratched up. After we realized what had happened, we called the manager who was not available. I left her a message telling what had happened in their parking lot, just to let her know to be vigilant. I gave her my phone number but never heard anything back. I filled out their online review that they emailed me later in the week, and I told of the incident there. THe manager finally emailed me back apologizing for the place not being up to my expectations. Oh well....I don't know many people who expect their car to be vandalized.

On our way home from vacation, we stayed at Embassy Suites ...a much better choice all around.
