amazing Breakfast and freindly staff. There is always noise in Brazil ask for room 115 or 116 as they are tucked away at the back.
Good overall stay 200 reals for a Lux room

We arrived on a Sunday when Carnivale rehearsals were going on, and thought we’d never get through the crowds to this pousada. And once inside, the blaring music and drumbeats at first had us wondering if we had made a big mistake. But soon we were out on the front balcony taking photos of the festivities; it seems we were on the main parade route, and there was a frenzy of activity as band after band rolled slowly by. Crowds of people singing and dancing, as far as you could see up and down the cobblestone street, made our first evening a delight, and we had dinner out on the terrace overlooking the activity. But thank goodness Carnivale was still three weeks away!

The location was perfect, and we spent our one full morning exploring, and the afternoon at an amazing ceramics museum in North Recife created by the famous artist Francisco Brennand. The pousada is in a very old building that could have been a little palace, which was expanded into an adjoining old building and a swimming pool added. Our room had a little balcony overlooking the pool, with good air conditioning and comfortable furnishings. Hot water was not working, but was addressed immediately after we reported the problem. Wireless Internet access was available in the front desk area, as well as a computer. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our meals so good we ate there both nights. The included breakfast had a huge variety, one of the largest we’ve seen. A fine establishment in the best part of town, in our opinion.

Very nice old mansion well situated in Olinda. I was on business ans stayed 5 days in a luxury room. Included balcony with hammoc, on king bed and one twin. Good regional breakfast with tons of specialities. They also have a restaurant with a limited menu but sufficient not to get bored. Internet access is limited to the reception area and part of the balcony. It's almost like going back 100 years with modern conveniences. super friendly staff always ready to help. If you want a taste of what it was like to be a rich land owner 100 years ago, this is a wonderfull experience. I would recommend to friends and familly. You can also beat the traffic to the conference center compared with stayin in Recife.

The small triple and double rooms downstairs, with bunk beds, were so horrible I refused to stay a 2nd night. If I'd arrived earlier, I wouldn't have even stayed the first night. Honestly, it was dreadful. Insects, AC not working properly and was tiny / floor-anchored so wouldn't reach the top bunk. Teh sheets were not quality, the bathroom was disgusting, head leaked in from outside under door cracks, the water temp was unstable and pressure too low, the towels were old and thin... I can't explain just how much I hated that experience. Damp and sewage smells, street noise, old and bad beds... aaargh! And that was the better fo the 2 rooms shared by my group.

The 2nd night, the 3 of us (who had been split into 2 rooms downstairs) were squeezed into a triple room up in the main part of the hotel, right on the top floor. It was attic-style, with sloping roof, great AC, wonderful bathroom, nice towels, nice views, quality everything... All for practically the same price we were paying for the 2 awful rooms "underground".

The breakfast was wonderful - I mean , my favourite breakfast on the whole holiday. real, quality, traditional foods just like I used to eat when I lived in Brazil many years ago. I craved many of those dishes, and didn't see them again my whole holiday. The brekfast really stood out in my mind, and my memories are fond due to the 2nd room & the food.

Never take the downstairs rooms... either go to the top, nice rooms - or go elsewhere.
