My wife and I stayed at the Peerless Inn from August 3-7.
We were delighted to find that it is surrounded by a large but crowded shopping area, including New Market, and the fine restaurants of the Oberoi Grand are a short walk away. The food at the Oberoi is a better value than the restaurants or room service at the Peerless. Our room was frigid, even when we turned the air conditioner off. Whenever our room was cleaned or the bed was turned down, the air conditioning was turned back on until we stuck a post-it note on the switch asking that it be left off. We joked that if the hotel saved money on electricity they could use it to shampoo the dirty carpet in the room. Internet was available on an as-used (not a block of time) basis at a very reasonable cost through a LAN cable. We got used to the sound of a loudspeaker in the market nearby (see photo) and honking horns of cars on the street. Breakfast in the coffee shop was good. They prepare eggs in the kitchen if you ask. As elsewhere in India, questionnaires were frequent and tiresome after the first day. The concierge and duty manager were very helpful telling us where to shop for various items. We would recommend the Peerless.
