The hotel has got old charm but has modern amenities. Food is good. You won't find moisturizer in the room though. The TV also needs to be upgraded. Bed is comfortable but could be better. Room service is little slow. Room amenities are good and you will newspaper and magazines.

Fairly central and within walking distance from main sightseeing attractions. Room was a fair size, but the bed was very hard, the bathroom very small. Their breakfast is not bad. We couldn't find any decent (even average) restaurants. Mother Teresa's Mission was the highlight and really the only reason going to Kolkata for.

We arrived from NZ in the middle of the night, were met at the airport in an AC car (extra charge but definitely worth it if you arrive late) and very impressed with our room on arrival at the hotel. It was spacious, including the ensuite, well furnished and comfortable. Staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and it was clean. In a great location near the Maidan, and Victoria Memorial, not far from Park St. This hotel was a little over our normal price range but well worth the extra dollars.

Astor, was a very pleasant surprise, located very close to the business district and Park Street. The hotel had an elegant old age feel with large, spacious and clean rooms.
The service was impeccable and always with a smile.
Overall, I was very impressed with Astor and would definitely say its worth considering.

However, if you need a lift, you would have to give Astor a miss, since the hotel did not seem to have one. I also missed the complimentary bottled water which is a given in today's day. Also the breakfast buffet lacked non-veg options.

Other than these relatively minor inconveniences. overall i definitely give Astor a thumbs up!!
