I have stayed there so many times. Whenever i visit Kolkata i prefer staying at this place. Love the gym, someplace else, tantra, pool and everything about this hotel. This is a happening place for bachelors to stay. Nice eating options around the place.

Only bad things i could find were: On weekend music is too loud in tantra that its annoying on some of rooms at lower floors. there is problem with entrace of hotel where there is less space to walk.

Our first trip to India was to Kolkata for a friends wedding. This was recommended by locals but we really had no idea what to expect from Indian hotels. We were pleasantly surprised by how modern the facilities looked and the great location on park street near shops and restaurants. However spalled by the room. We were apparently "upgraded" but:
Room was barely bigger than a king sized bed. our window faces right next to another detrepid building. The floors are all cheap hardwood and walls paper thin so you can hear everyone else walking around on the floors and closing their doors. The shower drain was plugged so after a shower, the water would leak out and into the room itself. Oh and the hot water doesn't work.

I think all of this would have been forgotten if the staff would have been friendlier and listened to our concerns and get us another room - instead they were rude and made us feel like we were troubling them. They kept saying they would call us to give us an update or ask us to check back but then there would be no changes.

This place is horrible. Only reason I did not give it 1 star is because their gym pool and restaurant is very nice.

A very disappointing stay in one of Kolkatta's oldest and well known properties. Check-in took over 30 minutes, and a few people had to wait over 3 hours (till 6 pm). The room was terrible and the glass windows were boarded up and hence no natural light. If I had not seen the commotion at the reception, I would have gone down to change my room. Luckily had to stay for one night only! The water in the shower was either very hot or very cold! there is no chance that I would stay in this hotel ever again! Even to get in from the main road, you have to go through a restaurant with a narrow path.......rubbish! Thumbs down! The noise from the inhouse disco kept me awake - had to sleep with the tv on to drown the noise.

Except location, there is nothing in the hotel to be happy about. Standing at the entrance, we had to struggle to find the reception to check-in. Too dull ambience. The entrance is through a restaurant-bar, crossing over narrow places.
At the time of check in, we had to wait for almost an hour to get the room... and what a room... nothing to meet even 3-star type of hotel. 3-star and 4-star hotels of ITC Fortune, Pride, etc are much much better than this. When we wanted to abandon the stay and move on to some other hotel, the room was changed. The door does not open by the key, and we had to call some one from reception every time, wasting 10 minutes every time we have entered the room. INteriors of the room where we were send subsequenty, were good.
LOcation is fantastic... right on the Park Street, where you can roam around.
