“Nice stay for a day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I was there for a day to attend one of my friend's wedding. The location of the hotel is very good. It is quite near to the Kolkata Airport. The Salk Lake City Center mall is just 2-3 mins walk time. For entertainment lots of things are there near by. The hotel is very well maintained and decorated. The reception stuffs were very helpful.

“A comfortable stay and courteous staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I was in this hotel for a night. I check in sometime around 11 PM and the hotel staff was kind enough to give me a call for directions, while i landed at the airport. the first surprise was a complimentary upgrade. The rooms are clean and spacious. Food is available round the clock. A very convenient hotel for those coming for business in the salt lake area. Hotel staff is courteous and makes every effort for a comfortable stay. I was satisfied with the service offered and trust this will continue.

Room Tip: The club room is a value for money.

“Good business hotel in Salt Lake Kolkata”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The Sonnet is a decent hotel in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata. The rooms are nice and the food is ok. They have a gym which is functional. The staff are also very friendly. I would love to see more Bengali food in the restaurant menu. The check-in/check-out process can be quicker.

Room Tip: Take the higher floors.

“good looks but no value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

This is a good business hotel as long as not paying from your own pocket. Hotel has nice looks from outside and inside and rooms are comfortable.

This hotel comes under B&B which means you need to add 1-2 k per day extra on your meals to the tarrif. Quality of food is fine except that we were lucky enough to find a piece of hair in one of the vegetables in the complementary breakfast. I guess hair was complementary too :).

The staff were nice and courteous an at least 4-5 people greeting you in your way to room.

The quality of sleep was nice till last day when someone occupied room adjacent to ours. The banging of closet doors and entrance doors were clearly audible enough to disturb your sleep in night. You could also hear the noise from LCD TV set next to the room though that was not as annoying as the slamming of doors.

We tried unsuccessfully to get the temperature regulate to a higher one by setting it to heat mode (yes it showed heat mode) which in fact lowered the temperature. After complaining several times that it's not working and technician visiting 2-3 times nothing worked and it took the staff about one day to figure out that there's no heat mode in their hotel (I guess the electronic device showing heat mode was just for fun) or in fact what they claimed none of the hotels have heating possible. In fact they couldn't even provide a small heat or so as temporary arrangement. According to them it will heat too much.

The exhausts in washrooms were either not working or were not good enough. Complaint about it but they claimed it's working after 2-3 trails. I still doubt if it ever worked.

The travel desk is of no use so better not waste any time there.
