“Great budget hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This was a lovely hotel, located very centrally in Darjeeling. But the main thing was that the owners were so lovely - really welcoming and looked after us as if we were part of the family. Even lent us their hot water bottles because we were cold and inviting us up to have tea in their apartment. Made us feel very at home! The food was also excellent - highly recommend it!

“Like staying in a Tibetan home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

We stayed 4 days here and were very happy with this hotel. It looks quaint from the outside but inside it is very cosy and a great showcase of Tibetan culture. And their service is excellent - it's more like ur visiting some Tibetan relatives! The food was good at every meal and the views from some of the rooms were fantastic. It's just walking distance away from the main shopping areas and so very convenient. They also have a little shop within the premises where their merchandise is of high quality yet reasonable prices. We would highly recommend this hotel for those who want a taste of "home" and not merely a hotel.

“Hotel with a Touch of Culture”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

The hotel is located at a walking distance from the Mall road and the city's local market area. The main selling point of the hotel is its traditional interior decoration which reflects the Tibetan and local culture.

The wooden construction of the rooms at fourth and fifth floor give a very warm feeling which is a very different experience from staying in a completely brick and mortal hotel.

The rooms are clean and well maintained and beds are comfortable. The absence of a lift can be discomforting to senior travelers.

The Memonto shop near the reception of the hotel is well equipped with a lot of goodies which are available at extremely reasonable prices (some items are even lower than the Mall Road prices). The lady at the shop has a warm heart and helps you in guiding and picking up the right gifts.

The restaurant has a very elaborate menu and good food. However, I had taken the American Plan (Accommodation + Meals) and I was a bit dis-satisfied with the buffet menu and the service. The staff pays lesser attention to people under the American Plan and had to be reminded multiple times if you need anything. Strongly urge the management to improve on this aspect or it can be a deal breaker!
