“Personal, Warm and the best of the best!”

I stayed at the Courtyard for 4 days in January 2012 and have become a fan of this property. The usual things...the food, the room, the spa...all are great but what got me excited was the service. The people at Courtyard get to know you and are always at your side, smiling and talking to you, exchanging notes, giving tips and of course taking care of your needs! it is the best experience I've had in a while at some Indian properties.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but yes the higher you go, the better the view!

“Great Location, Refurbished and Comfortable with Marriott Touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have stayed in this Hotel several times. Most of the people are familiar to me. The location is great and service is exceptional. The Breakfast time, in most properties, is louzy and noisy. But, at the property, you can get special attention for items that are not in Buffet. The Coffee is made in front of you and it has special taste too.
There is any Italian restaurant that opens for lunch and dinner time. The Coffee shop is multi-cuisine and hence not much variety of food!

The Hotel security is a problem but considering the importance of security, we may have to face the troubled checks etc.

If you take an executive room, you can access the Executive lounge in the 10F. Beware that at peak days, it is crowded.

Cheers and enjoy the Marriott hospitality in South Indian Soil.

Room Tip: Pick the off numbered rooms, if you can! There is no great view outside... High Floors are always...

“Business trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This is the second Courtyard Mariott property I have stayed during the last 4 months. And I seem to be liking them – they are relatively new, vibrant, and importantly value-for-money pricing.

This one is very well located for a business traveler with most business offices being in the vicinity. From the airport it takes about 30-odd minutes. The rooms are pretty neat for a lone traveler, with most expected facilities. If you are a Mariott member internet access is free! The room service options are also pretty good though would suggest that they reduce their avg delivery times a bit. One had a grilled fisn and nxt time Indonesian fried rice which came with a healthy portion (good enough for 1.5) and couple of accompaniments like chicken satay pieces, fried prawns, etc. The breakfast nxt morning was also good with live counters for – dosa, eggs, waffles, parathas, and filter coffee. Though what made it memorable was a good service gesture by the check-out executive. I wanted a cab for a quick drop but the hotel cab was costly. Rather than handing me a number of the local radio cab she promptly called them, did a quick-bit nego to secure a small cab in 15-20 mins and got it confirmed. That made my day as without it I would have missed my appointment or had to unduly pay high for the moderate ride.

Not surprising I preferred to stay there when I went there again.

“Cheerful Business Hotel with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I have stayed at this property several times over the past few years and finaly thought would put a few lines on the hotel.

Gather that this is the oldest Marriott courtyard in the country but thankfully, that is not reflected in the overall upkeep of the place. The moment one enters, one is greeted into a cheerful lobby and the adjoining Paprika Coffee Shop. Check in was fast and efficient and the overall service is lighting fast. Be it asking for additional bottles of water or room cleaning; everything is taken care of so efficiently. And for a business hotel right on Mount Road (Anna Salai)running upto full capacity most of the times, they must be doing something right.

We stayed in a standard room this time although I have also stayed in the Club Room on the higher floor. Rooms again are cheerful and efficient although the washroom could do with more amenities, starting with a shower cubicle. Nowadays, most business and leisure hotels have a glass shower cubicle and uite surprisingly, neither the standard room nor the club rooms here have one. It does feel odd having to shower in the bath tub! And the amenities too could do with a makeover. Another negative for some could be the absence of a swimming pool; though it didn’t affect me. Being right on Mount Road (Anna Salai), the location meant one is centrally located in Chennai. But that also means the noise and traffic that we have to face the moment we leave the hotel (no where to walk around after a heavy dinner) and in some cases, the noise does percolate to the rooms as well.

These are the only sore points in what is otherwise a fantastic place. And the reason it is so fantastic is because of the amazing food! The localites tell me that Marriott Courtyard Chennai has always had the best Sunday brunch in town and I got a taste of it this time. The food was superlative to say the least! And what a spread! Right from the Oriental and Continental dishes to the Indian sections, not to mention the numerous LIVE counters serving everything from chaat items to coconut water to Chinese and Indian appetizers! The restaurant is uniformly good even otherwise and we also had Italian food at the speciality ‘Rhapsody’ restuaruant which was again excellent. Not to say, the morning buffet breakfast again is a treat to have.

All in all, a cheerful business hotel with old world rooms but great central location in the city and great food that makes up for a nice experience overall.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms away from the front side; they might not have good views since there a few slums b...

“A one day's business trip to Chennai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The hotel is near the centre of the city, and the best landmark is to mention 'Opp to SUN TV office' and you just cant miss the location. Its a nice hotel with most of the facilities in place and the staff is very courteous too. The best part of my short stay was the vast spread of breakfast menu, they cater to all tastebuds,

The checkin and check out was effortless and repeat customers are remembered too, so it was a good stay. One tip is to reigster yourself for the Marriott rewards cards, this helps you with free net in your room and also links you with the global Marriott chain.

Room Tip: The rooms are bit small in comparison to other star hotels, but neverthe less good enuf if you are a...
