“badly in need of modernisation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The hotel is very dated and old fashioned, badly in need of modernisation. Service is dreadful, in the restaurant one starter arrived 10 mins before the rest, and the main meal meal was below average, but very expensive, the live band nearly defend us. Only worth a visit if you need to be close to Egmore Station, its location is the only redeeming feature, otherwise avoid

“Good location, good service but rooms need renovation.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

Checked in on 14th November,11 in the evening for a nights stay since on account of an urgency I had to stay for the night in Chennai . Booking was done by my office from Mumbai on my request for a hotel stay for the night. I had stayed here before also since the location is central.

Reception staff very friendly and efficient , room although spacious are in desperate need of renovation , toilets too need new fittings most of them are faded & leaking . Room service menu although covers all tastes but priced much costly than the competition. Even the cutlery need some make up. These days even budget hotels have LCDs in room but not Ambassador Pallava.

However buffet breakfast laid next day morning was huge & good choice which I enjoyed.

Room Tip: Prefer rooms closer to lift

“Desperate need of renovation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

This was the worst hotel of our trip to south India.
Although we were on the Executive Floor the room as tired and dated.
The hotel had a very musty odor
The restaurant had a decent buffet and the staff were very helpful.
The hotel seemed to cater to mainly Indian guests.
I would not recommend this hotel which was suppose to be a 4star but until it's renovated is really more like a 2 star.
