“Big Let Down.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed here for three days in January 2012. Was really excited to be staying at what seems a palace. The check facilities are good and smooth and people were extremely helpful. I was given an early check in as my flight reached jaipur ar 8am and was hoping to be sitting in the reception area till lunch time but luckily they gave me a room immdtly which is well appreciated. The room was in the new wing on the second floor. on entering one gets a feel of a room which does not look any where close to what was i expecting from a room in a palace. overall the room was disappointing. Breakfast is on the first floor and so is the lunch and dinner room. saw just one resturant actually and let me warn you the food is pretty sad. it just didnt look like a resturant in a palace. the road side resturant would serve better food. breakfast was pretty sad in terms of layout and anyone could have made a better omlete than the person who was making it in the resturant., even a person cooking for the first time. lunch was equally pretty sad in terms of taste and and offering in the buffet. the food is as bad as the rooms was my conclusion.
The silver lining to the entire trip was the amazing taj service. the employees were doing an amazing job of making one comfortable. its all and more you can expect from a taj property. great in terms of service.
another big issue is if you are looking for some peace then please check if they have given out their lawns for any marriage program. all three days we were there some or the other program was happening right outside your window. so if you are looking for some nice peace and quite evening then please check or you may land up in the middlte of a marriage program which ever side of the room you face.

Room Tip: if you are a foodie totally avoid this place. only the rooms in the main building is the original p...

“Tried rooms and horrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Have stayed year many times and each time the rooms seems more tired and the service even more poor. The food is bad too.

The staff are not friendly. Shiv Mathur who is the duty manager seems to have ego issues.

Do not stay here. Go to the ITC or Trident instead.

The hotel spa is non- air conditioned and hence you are sweating while receiving a spa treatment.

The bar is dingy.

A poor hotel

“Talk about living like a Maharaja!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This lovely hotel was a former maharaja's palace, on 18 acres, I believe..it is an amazingly beautiful palace, with marble arches and beautiful large dining rooms and hallways, and public areas, with gorgeous rolling lawns and gardens, and a panoramic view of the grounds..The staff was friendly, welcoming, and so gracious...the women beautifully attired in saris with always lovely smiles...the room was great, with every amenity...the dining room was a pleasure to visit, and here we discovered one of India's great delicacies - baked yogurt!
This lovely hotel redefines graciousness, as only the Indians know how to present it...with so much grace that it was hard to say goodbye!

“Diwali in Jai Mahal...The best diwali in India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had a kings time at the palace hotel of Jai Mahal. Being a Taj property one wouldn't have any questions about the place. It is a heritage property but has all the modern amenities that a Taj 5 star property would have. We were there on Diwali and was a treat. The kids friendly environment made it a gr8 plus. The rooms were also nice. The swimming pool and the sports amenities were nothing to complain about.
Jaipur was the best place to celebrate Diwali. The fire crackers, the sweets and the people celebrating it are a treat to watch.
Jai mahal was gr8 in all the departments. Get ready to be live life king sized.!!!!!!
