“My Best Stay in India by far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Sue and I have had a tremendous trip to India and we stayed in B&B's and Homestays almost exclusively. The Indian experience is different from anything else we have had. I have however had to judge the homestays by lower standards than in the West. EXCEPT for Jaipur Urban Villa. This is in no large part due to Ruhi having studied in the UK so she understands the requirements of foreign tourists. The B&B has not been running long so she has done very well in a short time. This lovely appartment is an oasis of calm. The rooms are superbly clean. The warmth of the reception is superb. Ruhi who is ably helped by her family provides a real five star experience. They are kind, gracious and helpful with advice whilst never ever being intrusive. My wife had been ill in Agra and we missed our connections after Jaipur. So Ruhi arranged a taxi for us with a very good driver who took us to Pushkar and Udaipur and showed us many lovely sights that as foreigners we would never have seen.

The breakfasts were superb and we even had a proper UK hairdryer with multi speeds and heats. The semi precious stones we purchased were also excellent. What a joy to buy without haggling. When we later saw similar items on our travels we could see that we had bought well.

So for great local knowledge, a peaceful stay, in a superbly clean appartment with a selection of Indian and Western breakfasts this is the only place to stay in Jaipur.

Room Tip: The place is such great value I can see early booking will soon be vital if you want to have a chanc...

“Great location and a very clean and comfortable place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend over new years. We were looking for a cozy B&B that allowed as to interact with a family to help us get to know the local area, people, customs, etc. This is exactly what we got. Ruhi and her family are so gracious and hospitable it's amazing.

First off, let me clarify a bit. This is definitely a professionally run B&B, you have your own room and bathroom, etc. You can come and go as you please and can treat it like a hotel if you choose. But, if you want to get to know a local family they are there with their arms open. The family doesn't live there, Ruhi (daughter and owner) comes over each morning with a delicious, warm and freshly cooked traditional Indian breakfast. If you don't want this, there are plenty of other options (cereal, fruit, toast, etc). Ruhi is available to you each morning (or anytime actually via phone), she can help you arrange drivers, where to go, etc. Think of it as your own personal concierge. She and her family have lived there all her life, so they really know the ins and outs of the city.

The facility is a very clean and spacious flat in a wonderful location, it's easy to get anywhere or catch a cab just outside. It's also very safe as there is a guarded gate to enter the property, plus you have a key to the front door and a key to your room. There are only 2 or 3 bedrooms. So you may have the place all to yourself. Lastly, there is no noise or train issues. The building is off the street a bit and the flat itself sits up on the 7th floor, far away from all the street noise.

Honestly, this place is a steal for the price and all the TLC you get from the family. If they have availability, you can't go wrong.

Lastly, as a little bonus, the family is in the jewelry making business and there is a beautiful display case in the front room with many pieces Ruhi and her mom designed. The pieces and stones are absolutely stunning and the wholesale prices are unbeatable.
