“Really perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed here for six nights during the Jaipur Literature Festival 2012, and it was a really, really good experience. I will definitely come back here again, and again, and I know I don't ever need to hunt for a hotel later during the Jaipur Lit Fests in the coming years. The service, rooms, ambiance, location, and quality of food was excellent, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Jaipur. For the price (of approximately Rs 1600 inclusive of taxes per night in a double AC room), I don't think you'll find any match to Hotel Savoy.

The location is absolutely awesome: it is on MI Road, and very much in the center of the city. It's inside a little lane on the busy market road, and is therefore both calm and buzzy. You don't feel lonely and stuffed away, and it's not very noisy either at all. The hotel was also just a great stone's throw away from Diggi Palace too (1/2 a kilometer away), where we spent all our time at the festival, and the staff at Savoy was decent, hospitable, intelligent, professional, and extremely warm to say the least. The food was exceptional. The tea was extremely, extremely delicious and refreshing, and I would recommend everything that they serve on the menu at The Grill restaurant! It is homely, well cooked, tasty, and appetising. Three cheers to the cooks for that.

The staff is extremely helpful and cooperative and very responsive to improvisations and suggestions. They were always eager to change whatever we needed in line with our needs and requirements, and were available at all times. The bathroom was really comfortable, spacious, well-designed, and clean.

The decor and the ambiance of the hotel is simple and spotlessly clean in general too, and has a very earthy, local touch - which makes you feel at home, and also truly makes you feel that you are in Rajasthan / Jaipur.

The WIFI connectivity is excellent in the rooms, though I only wish they wouldn't switch it off after midnight, because sometimes something urgent can come up. However, I believe that if requested to the staff, it can be activated without any problem. Our room had running hot and cold water at all times, as well as a heater. Coming home in the evening after an entire day felt cozy and heavenly. The room was also very well ventilated and airy and had a perfectly pleasant amount of sunlight streaming in during the afternoons and evenings. I especially liked the way the windows were designed.

My only two suggestions to the staff would be (which I mentioned while checking out of the hotel too): that firstly, the hotel cab fare is a bit expensive - we paid Rs 560 from the airport to the hotel, and Rs 300 from the hotel to the bus stand while leaving, and this can feel heavy. It really is a bit expensive, and though the service is very dependable, I think the hotel taxi price could be reduced a bit.

Secondly, there is a very dangerously placed step near the entrance of room number 206 where we stayed, and anyone can trip there and fall down and break their head if they don't watch out. The tiles of the higher floor and the lower floor are identical, and it is very difficult to notice the difference and see that there is a step that needs to be stepped down on. My mother almost tripped (though saved), and it can be very dangerous if someone doesn't notice it in a hurry. Some warning or coloured sign to alert people walking there is extremely crucial. The person at the reception told us that it was a valid suggestion and that they will look into it pronto, so we are confident this will be changed soon.

Priti (who helped us through the online booking back from Bombay), Mr BK Verma (hope I have his name / spelling correct) on the reception and Rakesh, our waiter, who served us food in our room - all made our stay very happy and warm and welcome. They were all friendly and professional both, which is a pretty rare find. Keep up the good work, Hotel Savoy, and please maintain this quality for ever! I'm really pleased that I managed to book this hotel in time before our trip.

I would 100% recommend it to anyone staying in Jaipur at any time of the year. This is really a great place. Please stay here.

Room Tip: Take room number 206 on the second floor, on the other side of the elevator. Take a room facing the...

“Good Hotel, Nothing Better than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I selected Hotel Savoy primarily based on the review here. Typically, I have found when I have gone by TripAdvisor reco, I have been impressed by at least some aspect of the hotel. I did not find anything extraordinary in this hotel. However, it was good or very good in each of the parameters: location is very good; price is very good, food is good, service is good, friendliness of staff is very good. Peace of mind and value for money. But would not rate it excellent in any parameter. So, what does that mean? If you are on a work tour and hotel is the last thing you would like to worry about, this is the one to choose at this price. But if you have gone on a fun trip, there are better options to enjoy, though they may be 15-20% costlier. For example, the rooms are so cold. I had to ask for another blanket at 6 O clock in the morning. Good thing is I got it in five minutes

Room Tip: Try to take on third or fourth floor towards the balcony

“Clean and safe place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

I stayed in Savoy for 3 days in November, and the stay was quite pleasant. I booked over phone and the room was ready. The room was clean and was worth the money. The toilet, balcony, elevator was quite good.
The owners were very helpful and supportive.
The best part was the location, it is very near to Rajasthali, MI Road and Ajmeri Gate. Overall a decent place to stay, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms which are in the front.

“Excellent Budget Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

We had a plan to visit Jaipur for two days this November, and booked our rooms in the budget hotel Savoy.
The booking experience was good. I could not book online through their website as there was some problem with the payment gateway. So, I called up their number. I was promptly told that they can take the reservation and I can pay upon arrival. I was also given a discount coupon on the spot.
Main criteria for selecting this hotel: Location, Price and reviews
The rooms were very clean, and well maintained. The bathrooms were also very neat.
Food ordered was decent.
The hosts were kind enough to let me make a cancellation of one rooms on the spot as the travel plans of one of us changed at the last moment. This was done without any penalties / negotiations.
Negative points: Can get a bit noisy outside the rooms during peak hours as it is very near to the roads. However, once inside the rooms, and windows closed, it is pretty decent.
Also, there was no closed parking available for cars / bikes.

Overall, a wonderful experience, and I can recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good budget hotel.

Room Tip: Try and take a room away from the main road, for some extra peace.

Hi

Greetings from Hotel Savoy

We would like to thank the guest for their kind review and suggestions.
We at Hotel Savoy try to make the stay of our guests comfortable, however if the guest mention their inconveniences we do our level best to get things in order for them
As we are just off the main M.I. Road it might get a little noisy at times but generally it is quite peaceful at the Hotel. Also as the guest suggested that if you keep the doors of your room closed it is quite peaceful and another thing that we must mention is that the guest had selected the front room, however other rooms in the interior are also available. The hotel is very open and airy and is properly ventilated so even a room in the interior is good enough. Also generally the guest move out during day time to the markets or other tourist places so the peak hours noise doesn't really affect the guests. Also though the parking is open we have people who keep a check even at night and also we have CCTV cameras to keep a check on the parked vehicles of our guests.

“Excellent Service & Full Value for Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

Good should be written about and hence I am taking time out to write this.

We (a family of 5) were visiting Jaipur for the first time and we were really apprehensive about the stay. I had called up a few other hotels in Jaipur and all are them were very strict about their 12 noon check-in and check-out times. Like most travelers, our trip couldn't be obviously planned to the T.

The moment I called up Hotel Savoy and talked to Ms Priti, I laid all my worries to rest. I was really amazed by her dedication to get the best deal for us. We had planned to book two rooms for 5 people. We were pleasantly surprised when she drastically cut down our stay expenses by offering us one big room to accommodate all 5 of us. And she also gave us a great deal for our late check-in and check-out schedules. She even took down our booking for a vehicle for a day's sightseeing of Jaipur. The speed and efficiency of all these bookings amazed us. One more small yet significant thing to mention is that, while talking to her, the phone got disconnected due to bad network. She promptly called back to continue the conversation. The other hotels I have called up in Agra/Jaipur for this trip never showed such dedication. They would not even bother to call back.

The booking was all over within a hour or so and that too through a few phone calls from Bangalore and a few confirmation emails. The only thing (in retrospect) I should have also done was to book a airport pickup from the hotel itself. The pre-paid taxi counters in Airport dont have a fare chart for bigger vehicles (like Innova) and the thugs there charge as much as they like. However even when we were fighting with the taxi walas, Ms Priti came to our rescue by letting us know the reasonable fare (approx Rx 400-450). Finally after some tough bargaining, we got a vehicle for Rs 400. The driver had some trouble finding the hotel since it was inside an side alley on the MI road. You can ask for Chaudary hotel (an old abandoned hotel) which more people seem to recognize. Savoy is just diagonally opposite this Chaudary hotel.

The outer facade of the hotel looks OK and the works/carvings on the walls, windows and terrace look great. The signboard with "Grill Restaurant" on it could be replaced with a more modern one. That would definitely improve the looks of the hotel, in my humble opinion.

From here onwards, the experience has been awesome. The person at the reception was very courteous and quick. We checked-in in no time. The room was spacious enough for 5 people. Ours was on the top floor, we had a great view and a good breeze coming in. People like me who prefer open balconies & good cross ventilation in rooms would love such stays. Later in the trip, we stayed in a so-called "hifi" hotel at Agra where everything was AC and the windows were sealed shut. To tell you the truth, though we paid almost triple amount for this "hifi" hotel, our experience at Savoy was 10 times better..!!

Food at the hotel was simply great (except for one slightly grouchy waiter) and very reasonably priced too. Room service was good and efficient. The bathrooms were very neat. The driver arranged by the Hotel was very well-mannered and we had a very pleasant sight-seeing experience. We paid Rs 1500 for the full day's trip. A tip. However do a research on the restaurants where you want to have lunch before itself because the places the driver took us to looked shabby and didn't seem suitable for families. Finally on the road to Amer we found a place called "Parampara" where you get delicious Rajasthani meals for Rs 250/head.

Overall, our stay was totally paisa vasool and I was very glad to see such hotels where the management is so customer-oriented and not money-minded. Our special thanks to Ms Priti for making this trip so smooth & memorable.

Room Tip: The top floor has a great view and very well ventilated.

Hi Greetings from Hotel Savoy
I would wholeheartedly like to thank the guest for his kind review and his suggestions as well. We at Hotel Savoy continuously strive to improve upon our services and make the visit of our guests hassle free. We believe that a person who comes out on a vacation or for business should not be bothered and therefore we try to take away his worries on to ourselves when he books with us. We at Hotel Savoy try our level best to make the stay of our guests comfortable and memorable. Also we call the people who book with us our "GUESTS " and not "CLIENTS ". In India we believe in Atithi Devo Bhava and Hotel Savoy tries to live up to it. Hotel Savoy Jaipur has stood tall for 60 yrs now because of its policies and shall continue to do so with the love and trust of its Guests.
