I booked 4 nights accommodation at the Regents but we didn't even stay for one (luckily we had not paid any money at check-in). After an 1.5 hour journey from the airport in a non a/c taxi all we wanted to do was use the loo and relax, but we were told that we could not check in straight away. They kept offering us tea which didn't arrive for 30 minutes, but when another group of women showed up the hotel staff were falling over themselves to serve them - and the tea appeared for them within 5 minutes! As we were not rich middle eastern women they obviously had no reason to treat us likewise.
Eventually we got into our room, and it was more than satisfactory - great shower, beds looked comfy and a TV. However 20 mins later I was called to reception and asked if we wouldn't mind changing to a bigger room due to a mistake in the system. Tired, hungry and wet from the shower I thought this was a good deal and accepted. The room we were moved into was bigger but not of the same standard it smelt and was covered in yellowish stains.
The staff refused to move us (he was eating his dinner at the reception desk!) we eventually stormed out and found a better (and more pricey) place to stay - but at least we were treated like equally important guests.
