“Well worn package tour hotel. Avoid!”
We stayed here for 2 nights in Dec 2011. this is a well worn cheap hotel used extensively by tour groups that simply does not live up to it's 4 star rating. It's a high turn-over place with dirty, run down rooms, and has just the worst run restaurant we have ever seen.
Let's start with the room which was shabby, well worn and in sadly in need of a renovation. The bed-cover was quite filthy and the mattress was very lumpy and uncomfortable. One of the worst we had in our 5 week trip. Pretty grungy 2 star quality.
Location is a bit out of the way so you end up having to eat at the restaurant and then ..... you are at their mercy! Quite frankly this was the worst restaurant service we had in India. The service is absolutely terrible. Try waiting for 25 minutes for a coffee!
The problem is the management. They have a head guy in charge (the little guy with a mustache) , then 3 rather pompous waiters, and finally a couple of boys who actually do ALL the work. We actually watched the manager and the said 3 waiters argue over who was going to make our coffee, whilst the restaurant was basically empty! None of them want to do any work!
When the food comes, one waiter will carry it out to a back counter..... then we watched our food being swapped from tray to tray, again whilst the waiters argue who is going to actually do some work and serve the food. It appeared they were all trying to buy time,so they could shirk their duties and give it to one of the young boys to serve. Consequently the boys were running around like crazy and simply worked off their feet.
If I ran that place, I would fire the head guy and the waiters and get some new staff. They need a shake up to put things right.
Overall, this was one of our worst hotels during a 5 week trip through southern India. Not recommended.
