“A haven for the end of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

We were nearing the end of 3 weeks travel around southern India. Gitanjali Homestay was welcoming, peaceful and very comfortable. Our hosts were charming, the staff quietly unobtrusive and efficient, the food delicious and distinctive (Coorg recipes). Our rooms were spotless and unfussy. The bathroom worked - no plumbing problems and a hot and strong shower. Nice to know the water was heated using solar power. In the late afternoon, we sat on the verandah overlooking a beautifully maintained garden and sipped cups of tea or drinks, all happily delivered to us at our request. Lovely place and lovely people.

“Memorable evenings of delightful food and informative conversation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

We stayed at Gitanjali Homestay for two nights and much appreciated the warm welcome of our host family. They cooked some delicious meals and explained the preparation of the various dishes. It was a privilege to spend our evenings chatting to Yamuna and her mother, comparing lifestyles and learning more about present day India and their home region of Coorg. What a charming couple!

We had a comfortable room, but the connecting door to the next room did mean that we could hear our neighbour's snoring.

“The warmest of welcomes and glimpse into the special world of the Coorg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed this visit. We were welcomed warmly. The room was very clean and to a high standard and the ensuite bathroom was one of the best we had during our stay in South India. The garden is beautifully maintained and the ladies who looked after our needs were so pleasant. The food was superb and very plentiful. We spent two thoroughly enjoyable evenings with our hostesses who gave us a wonderful insight into local life and also life in the Coorg where the family is from. The setting is very special with the Lalitha Palace at the top of the long drive. It is out of town and we didn't explore locally and needed a car to get into Mysore. Mysore is a fascinating city, and we loved the market, the Maharaja's Palace and Tippu Sultan's winter palace amongst much more.

“Great place to relax and explore Mysore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

What a wonderful experience it was staying at Gitanjali Homestay! Friendly owners, tasty food, clean rooms, good beds and all that in the middle of a garden full of colorful flowers. This homestay is definitely a place where you will fully enjoy your trip to India and Mysore. I especially liked the porch in front of the rooms where you can relax in a hammock, reading a book and listening to the chirping of the birds. What a pity that we had to leave again after two nights.

“Beyond paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

What a wonderful homestay. Such peace and tranquility. Excellent rooms, great ambience, spotless, lovely grounds, excellent host
We ate in the grounds on the first night of our stay witha group on American visitors and had a wonderful buffet banquet , all homemade and delicious.
The second night we had drinks in our hosts house and then had dinner with them. It was so interesting to hear about their culture and to eat traditional well cooked food.
We were lucky to be in Mysore on a Sunday and were taken to Mysore Palace to see it illuminated at 7.30. What a spectacular sight, dont miss this.
Have travelled extensively though India for several years and this homestay rates top of my list.
Wonderful experience. So pleased to have met you and introduced you to nastershum leaves!!
