Swamnarayan Akshardham is the miraculous and majestic religious place that is the must place to visit in Delhi. It is situated on Yamuna River, The grand complex open from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Monday. We should have at least 3 hours to visit and look around here. There are a huge crowd -Indians and tourists- going to visit here, lining a long queue for 5-6 lines and then sepearating men and women for security check. So it is recommend to bring only money and passport to go inside. Cameras , mobile phones and other electronic items, pets, food and drink from outside are strictly prohibited. I suggest the best time to go here is about 4.00 p.m. because there will be very beautiful light decoration around the complex. When we go inside the grand 100-acre cultural complex, It is very majestic and spiritual place. So amazing! The complex was inspired by His Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj to fulfill the wish of his guru. It was constructed completely in only five years instead of the real time for 40-year construction with the dedication and hard work of 11,000 volunteers and artisans. The Focal point is the grand Akshadham Mandir built of pink stone and white marble. It is 141 ft high, 316 ft wide and 356 ft long,. It features 234 intricatedly carved pillars. Inside the Mandir is decorated so miraculous with magnificent domes. Outside the mandir comprisesed 148 sculpted stone elephants and dozens of other sculptures of people, animals and birds weighing in excess of 3,000 tons. There is also the huge cultural garden, the exhibition halls, the musical fountain show, food court and souvenir shop. We should buy the guide leaflet costed 5 rupees for general information of the complex. Because of prohibiting of cameras, there will be the arrangement for personalized photographs and we have to wait for 15-20 minutes to receive the photo. I recommend to buy the book of Swahinarayan Akshardham with all beautiful pictures of architecture of the complex costed only 50 rupees for souvenir. However, I am so disappointed that I cannot take photos by myself.
