“Dear Ushi and Avnish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

It has been nearly a year since my wife, my mother and I had the pleasure of staying with you.
I had visited Delhi with my wife before, but it was a unique experience best left at 'exciting' as to not put off the most wary.
We didn't think that my little mum could handle that and knew we couldn't either, but we still wanted a trip that gave a real taste of India as independent travellers.
Your hospitality was A1. Avnish, you can talk the hind legs off a donkey, but you are a real personality. I totally agree that the best way to start a holiday is with cup of tea. It was lovely to meet some of your other guests and we really enjoyed your tour of the flower market, a very interesting little slice of day to day life in the city.
Ushi, clearly the brains of the outfit, thank you so much for helping with our onward travel and for fitting us in again on the way out.
It's a calm, serene, well oiled machine you two have created in Master. For those needing a base, flexible and approachable hosts, where help can be provided if needed, I would definitely recommend you.
All the best for 2012.
D

“Avnish & Ushi - just good sales people”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Awful, over-priced, hidden costs (particularly the expensive meals), no bills provided, expensive transport to and from the Airport/railway station, and the poor young men employed as servants (always over-worked and underpaid). The guide books have really got this one wrong. Three stars for the rooms and bathrooms - clean and superficially cultural.

Room Tip: The rooms are expensive for what they are. Be careful of the sales talk. The agenda is really only a...

Having opened our house for several years to the world, we take any criticism with a positive attitude but the accusatory tone and selection of words in your review , constrains us to put the facts in their proper perspective.
We (i.e. Avnish, Ushi and our staff) work together as a team 24/7 with a smile and willingness to help anyone who comes to our house. We are very fortunate that this healthy team spirit is supported by some beautiful people who have been a part of our team for several years, some for nearly a decade. What we are uncomfortable with, is talking about the mutual love and respect of the team, emerging from a sense of well being, either casually or on a public platform.
We also understand and respect the guest's right to knowing the cost of staying at a place . We therefore provide all the information prior to receiving a commitment from our guests. Whilst in principal we are only responsible for their stay in our house, airport transfers / train transfers and other services are only facilitated to enable our guests to have a comfortable stay. As most of these services are obtained from outside, the costs involved are explained upfront to avoid any misunderstanding later. This is not to mention the free internet, local telephones and other facilities provided to all guests staying with us.
Both Avnish & I have sound and content professional lives outside the bed and breakfast and have no need to indulge in any sales talk, for petty gains.

“Just the Best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I have had the pleasure of staying twice in four years at Master. On this trip (Dec 11) I was delighted with the upgrading they have done to the property but in doing so it has lost none of its charm.

Bathrooms terrific, rooms clean and well maintained, and food excellent. But best of all is the company of Ushi and Avnish, a spendid and most interesting couple who, along with their staff, do everything possible to make one's stay comfortable and enjoyable, and they willingly share their knowledge of Delhi and places further afield.

“Provided the perfect soft landing for Delhi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Master was a great base, away from the madness of Delhi.

The breakfasts were delicious, especially the Puri with potato curry.

Avnish was very helpful, coming up with suggestions on what to do. We really enjoyed the Old & New Delhi tour and would have loved to do the Hidden Delhi tour if we'd had the opportunity. Ushi was very helpful with travel plans.

The communal dining area was a great way to meet other guests. Rooms were comfortable but a bit chilly in December. The heaters and hot water bottles were a lovely touch.

Compared with other places we stayed in India it was a little pricey, but it still provided a good base in Delhi.

“Home From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I have been staying with Avnish & Ushi when I visit Delhi for over 10 years now. From the day I first met them I knew I had a home from home. As soon as you enter their home, your worries just leave you as there is a lovely calm energy to the house. Such an honest and friendly couple with a wonderful way of looking at life, it is always such a pleasure to come and spend some time in their lovely guest house. The rooms are all original with no flash bling, but instead are very homely and quiet. You get what you pay for in life, and here is no exception. It's not just the room you are paying for but the genuine openness of this lovely couple who have seen it all when it comes to stressed out western travellers! Food is simple and effective with a lovely communal eating area where you can hang out and meet other travellers who have something to say. Nothing is a problem with both Avnish & Ushi going out of their way to help.

Room Tip: They're all great, but try to get one of the upstairs rooms if you can.
