I agree with one of the other reviews I read on this property. I'm rating it terrible because compared to other options it should not be able to get away with this. Here is a summary, from worst to best:
Worst: Service prices are ridiculous. I had three sets of socks, underwear, and two shirts laundered. It cost over 30 USD! That's what I would expect in Europe at a 5 star. Most Indian hotels that would probably come to 10 to 15 at most. Combine that with a day of internet at nearly 20 USD, a coffee at 4 USD, they effectively are trying the hotel model where they charge a low/discounted room rate, but try to maximize every amenity possible. So effectively I paid 131 a night for my room, which was okay, but then with say breakfast and internet I was well into 160 per night. The reason I say with breakfast and internet is you can go to the Radisson Blu (Paschim Vihar) and get a room for about 150 a night, much higher quality, and free breakfast and internet.
Pretty Bad: This leads me to the next part is the quality. It's really a 3 star hotel, not even close to 4. The beds are all two singles put together, the facilities need repair, and the hotel grounds look neglected. Also, the only sign of ecotel was that they actually did not take the towels I hung, which was nice, however their giant unused, neglected pool in the back probably negated any benefit.
Bad: Noise. It was truly noisy every night, even on the quiet side. They host weddings here a lot and if you are on the wedding side you are in trouble. However, the quiet side is where the staff takes in all dishes and hangs out from the weddings. So you hear clanking all night.
Subpar: the 20 USD a day internet was slothlike. 5 minutes to send one email.
Good: the staff and manager on duty and dining staff were impeccable. Attentitive and nice, but unfortunately so much is wrong on the facilities side that I would take a less attentive staff.
Alternatives: If you need to stay near Delhi Airport stay at the Royal Orchid. It's a chain and SO much better! The room I received was less expensive than the Uppal, the room was very modern and looked like a Marriot room. Internet was nearly half the price. Staff great. Can't believe I wasted three days at Uppal.
