“Hotel Bad,Staff Good,Prices For Services Very High”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

I agree with one of the other reviews I read on this property. I'm rating it terrible because compared to other options it should not be able to get away with this. Here is a summary, from worst to best:

Worst: Service prices are ridiculous. I had three sets of socks, underwear, and two shirts laundered. It cost over 30 USD! That's what I would expect in Europe at a 5 star. Most Indian hotels that would probably come to 10 to 15 at most. Combine that with a day of internet at nearly 20 USD, a coffee at 4 USD, they effectively are trying the hotel model where they charge a low/discounted room rate, but try to maximize every amenity possible. So effectively I paid 131 a night for my room, which was okay, but then with say breakfast and internet I was well into 160 per night. The reason I say with breakfast and internet is you can go to the Radisson Blu (Paschim Vihar) and get a room for about 150 a night, much higher quality, and free breakfast and internet.

Pretty Bad: This leads me to the next part is the quality. It's really a 3 star hotel, not even close to 4. The beds are all two singles put together, the facilities need repair, and the hotel grounds look neglected. Also, the only sign of ecotel was that they actually did not take the towels I hung, which was nice, however their giant unused, neglected pool in the back probably negated any benefit.

Bad: Noise. It was truly noisy every night, even on the quiet side. They host weddings here a lot and if you are on the wedding side you are in trouble. However, the quiet side is where the staff takes in all dishes and hangs out from the weddings. So you hear clanking all night.

Subpar: the 20 USD a day internet was slothlike. 5 minutes to send one email.

Good: the staff and manager on duty and dining staff were impeccable. Attentitive and nice, but unfortunately so much is wrong on the facilities side that I would take a less attentive staff.

Alternatives: If you need to stay near Delhi Airport stay at the Royal Orchid. It's a chain and SO much better! The room I received was less expensive than the Uppal, the room was very modern and looked like a Marriot room. Internet was nearly half the price. Staff great. Can't believe I wasted three days at Uppal.

“Very friendly staff but a let down of a hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

There are some serious flaws with this hotel, however the only saving grace is the friendly staff at this hotel.

Pro's
- friendly staff, very helpful and attentive
- nice gardens (if you can ignore the noise from aircrafts)
- nice food

Con's
- NOISY, if you are not lucky enough to get a room on the quieter side, you will feel like you are on the runway itself
- NOISY, regardless of which side of the hotel, the air-conditioning is a noisy unit in this hotel.
- Not-so-ecofriendly as advertised, as they do not have the option of heating in their ventilation system, so every guest is given a separate heater! (we definitely needed this as weather in Delhi was less than 10C during night time in January).
- Definitely not a 5 star as advertised on their website, every other hotel booking website says 4 star, I would rate it at 3 star for the quality of the rooms and 4 star for other areas of the hotel.

In summary, the staff do their best to make up for the shortfalls in the hotel, but if the hotel does not pull up it's socks and do something about their sound insulation and heating problems, they are just going to be on a slipperly slope..

At its current state, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you get a big discount and are staying for no more than 1 night.

“Noisy awkward but convenient for airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed a couple of nights on business. Its very convenient for the airport, and its one of the better choices on the "strip". Hotel picked us up from the airport no problems. Check in was a bit of a palaver, some of us having to give our lifes history other no questions at all. They insist on sending the internet password via a runner to you room which is really annoying. There was a big party on in the hotel grounds, this was very noisy, and to add insult to injury i had the truck with the scaffolding being loaded and removed the following morning in the early hours..impossible to sleep. Bed was probably the hardest i have ever come across. The buffet in the restaurant wasnt huge but the food was very good. Business centre request to print out a boarding pass proved an hour long saga, but got there in the end sort of. Reception was a bit hit and miss, could be quite rude at times , people who say what rather than pardon a particular pet hate of mine. All in all it is probably still the best choice out of a bad bunch, OK for a quick stop over but dont plan a holiday around this place.

“Nice relaxing property near the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Great rooms, service and food. Just a stop over for me but found the staff freindly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and super relaxing. Nice furnishings, great internet service, tv and selection. Will stay again if I am through Dehli.
