“GOOD LOCATION”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

It is hard to find a hotel in Delhi that ticks all the boxes. Aman New Delhi used to ... but has lot its charm of late. The Claridges doesn't try to be a 'destination' hotel but instead tries to provide great service in a clean modern environment.
The staff have been well trained and are efficient and helpful. The rooms are a little tired but spacious and clean with comfortable beds.
It isn't an outstanding hotel but does provide refuge from the chaos that is Delhi!

“Take Care”

I did not stay in the hotel, but my girlfriend and I had booked a trip to India in January, but had to postpone for 12 months for medical reasons. All other hotels, airlines, travel agencies and tour operators involved in our trip were sympathetic and helpful, and gave either a full or partial refund, credit or agreed to postpone the booking. Claridges were the sole exception, which suggests they are more interested in the instant transaction and the cash, rather than building a client relationship and a reputation for value for money. This attitude used to be commonplace in the travel industry, but is now rare. Sadly there are still a few dinosaurs around, and Claridges is one, so if you book, be aware and take care!

“Fairly outdated but not a bad choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

This hotel is in the primest location of town, in so the cleanest area of town. The hotel is clean and large and has a nice pool. But the hotel needs some updating. It could be so nice really

“Over priced, under serviced”

It's not just bond rating agencies  (i.e. S&P and Moody's) that can't be trusted neither can hotel star ratings. This is not a 5star hotel by any means. When I checked in I was assigned a double bedding room when I had reserved and prepaid for a king sized. After having to raise my voice the assigned me a king size bedded room which had no hot water in the morning. Again I vehemently complained and the manager assigned a smaller renovated room. The room was nice with a balcony but they were renovating the room next door. I had to show them from where the noise emminated before they reluctantly agreed to stop with sawing and hammering which otherwise went on from 9 AMto midnight.  Each morning and evening I had to call down or go down to complain. It's  expensive and internet is about R800 after all taxes and printing is extra.   The location is horrible except for walking access to Lodi Gardens which is Devine in the early morning. If I come again I'll book the Maidens which is close to Old Delhi.    I'm a woman traveling alone but on a very expensive tour and I think the service I've received reflect's the culture's dismissive regard for females unless they're elephants.

Room Tip: Get a renovated room in new section

“Claridges January 2012”

Stayed in January 2012, a really nice hotel, quite old colonial styles with a gentle pace.

Rooms and staff are of an excellent standard, only breakfast is a let down. The Pickwicks room is too small and the buffet is too limited in range and value of food is only average.
