“Quick visit, but pleasant...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I spent just two nights in the Imperial during a recent work trip... I didn't have any time for sightseeing, but was grateful for my one free evening during which I was able to enjoy a fantastic massage in the hotel spa and a wonderful dinner at the hotel's Spice Route restaurant. Those were both highlights of my brief visit which made it worthwhile...

Other high points were the impeccable service. A few low points: The room overlooked an interior courtyard which didn't receive enough natural light and was noisy during the daytime. (Luckily I wasn't there ever long enough during the day for it to turn into a problem, but I could imagine other guests not appreciating this at all- so do ask for a room that overlooks the pool or garden for example.) I also found the breakfast buffet somewhat disappointing- at least not of the standard of a true luxury hotel…

Nevertheless, this is an iconic historical hotel which offers a unique experience in Delhi, leaving you feeling quite spoiled and lucky. No regrets about choosing to stay here and would happily return.

Room Tip: ask for a room that overlooks the pool or garden and avoid those interior rooms overlooking inner co...

“A fabulous property, but...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

This is a wonderful hotel - everything you'd expect from a superb 5 star property - just be advised that they are building a new subway just at the entrance to the hotel. They work all night so don't accept a room at the front of the building - unless noise doesn't bother you.

“Afternoon Tea”

I'll be honest: We didn't fork over the $2000 per night to stay at this hotel, but we did have afternoon tea, cocktails, and dinner here. The property is magnificent, it actually feels more like a museum than a hotel in some ways. Sitting in the atrium having afternoon day is a great break from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. Highly recommended.

“Devine. Luxe British Raj influenced 1930's Art Deco Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

Luxe British Raj influenced 1930's Art Deco gem tucked away off the hustle & bustle of Janpath & Connaught Place.

Impeccable service, amazing art deco antique furniture and walls lined with hundreds of years of Indo-British history. A fascinating step back in time with all the modern 5Star touches you would expect.

Highly recommended!

*our only criticism would be their Wi-fi which is pay per 30 minutes for 1 device only (so 2 IPhones need 2 separate passwords) and if you let your page go to sleep you have to keep logging in again.

“Speechless”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I have travelled to over 100 countries and have had the privilege of staying in many 5 star hotels, but, I have never stayed at a hotel with the excellence of service such as the Imperial in New Delhi.
From the moment your car pulls up to the front door you are greeted with a warm "welcome home" throughout your whole stay- there is nothing that the whole staff of this amazing place will not bend over backwards to do for you- and always with a gentle smile. Every hotel in the world should send their staff for training at this remarkable hotel. The staff is so highly trained that your needs are anticipated and met immediately. We arrived late for our first breakfast and my husband asked if there were any more cinnamonbuns left. Not only did the chef bake some for him, but every morning a cinnamon bun was immediately next to his coffee. When we returned a couple of weeks later to the hotel - there it was- served right along with his coffee. By the way, the breakfast buffet is wonderful with a huge variety of Indian and continental foods.
The front desk manager Mr. Kapil Seth, is always- it really seems always, at 6am or 9pm- ready to meet you with a huge smile and a warm greeting. A man that will treats all his guests regardless of status with the same grace and dignity.
The rooms at the Imperial are spacious, elegant and equiped with anything you desire- and if it is not there- it will on short notice.
A special thank you to Mr. Charles Korth the director of the business center- who upon overhearing my frustration in connecting to a local representative of Visa, pulled out his cell phone and said:: :"here, use my phone and call America direct" . Your whole staff at the BC is fantastic.
I could probably write a short book about my impressions. The rooms, the restaurants (the Danielle is probably the best Indian food restaurant in New Delhi), the BC, the pools and the public areas are all immaculate and superb- but truth be told, you have to go to the New Delhi Imperial to experience it all. It will leave you speechless.

Room Tip: Whether Standard or the Imperial room- they are all excellent.
