This bed and breakfast is a fabulous way to begin a trip to India. My husband and I have previously always opted for hotels in our foreign travels. However, knowing how many of our friends have felt distant from the Indian people while staying in luxury Indian hotels, we intuitively felt like the smart place to begin our travels in Northern India would be this B&B. We were so glad about this decision. Mala and Gurdreep, as so well described in the Trip Advisor reviews, are exceptional people and attentive hosts. This is not a B&B in the American tradition, where you get a place to stay and a good breakfast but quite likely no genuine contact with the hosts. Here, you not only get a sumptuous breakfast (Mala is an accomplished baker) and the option of a home cooked dinner but, in addition, Mala and Gurdreep take a personal interest in orienting you to New Delhi and Old Delhi. We immensely enjoyed our wide-ranging conversations that offered us a unique perspective on India. They also helped arrange for drivers for our daily tours, made excellent shopping recommendations, endorsed our selection of a contemporary restaurant in Friends Colony, and introduced us to Mala's brother who runs a local art gallery. Their apartment is very comfortable, located in the diplomatic sector close to the airport, and furnished with beautiful Indian antiques and art. If you need more details and a journalistic endorsement, check out the New York times article on New Delhi bed and breakfasts which features Mala and Gurdreep complete with photographs. We feel so very fortunate to have spent six days in their home (three on the way into India and three on the way out).
